Red Riding Hood. Veronica Aldous. As we move into a New Year, I think of positivity and energy to thwart the darkness of our problems. But apart from that she's light and beautiful and her cloak and dress 👗 are layered and studded with turquoise crystals. She wears plain tights and shoes to set off the movement of all that red. My Perfect Peach. A trifle of a ballet. The prima ballerina sails over the onlookers, the fruity audience are surprised at the elevation of an ordinary peach. But the peach has a kernel, and in that nut is the Prince. She wears a lettuce edged ombre silk skirt with a bodice of white and red embroidered damask. Gaia Ballet. Veronica Aldous. The little dancer wears a shimmery dress of dusty pink to match the caps of her fungi. I have invoked the colours of a vintage card. I love drawing and painting these characters. I used to do a lot of dressmaking, often the clothes were ballet inspired. It's useful to know how clothes work and are constructed although I am not do bothered about my own.. I also make toys and models and silversmithing. I spent many years life drawing. I love to know how things are made. Nature is the best inspiration, and in the end she will help us with building blocks for a new world.
