Make enchanting and delicious ballerina sugar cookies for themed parties or simply to satisfy your sweet tooth.
Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1 cup unsalted butter, softened. 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 2 teaspoons vanilla extract. Food coloring optional. Edible glitter optional.
Instructions: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. If using, divide the dough into portions and tint with food coloring, kneading until evenly colored. Form the dough into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 350F 175C and line baking sheets with parchment paper. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use ballerina-themed cookie cutters to cut out shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheets. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. If desired, decorate the cooled cookies with edible glitter. Enjoy these delightful ballerina sugar cookies!
