this is my little apex crackship and i have thoughts about it. it came to me in a dream!!!!!!!!!!! putting this breaker simply bc ik some people dont gaf. this is mostly for myself but for the 3 other mirage x ballistic fans! they are very dear to me. might post some fusehound hcs later!
sooo age gap is below the line as well as some slightly out of character ballistic/mirage. the ooc part could be interpreted that way, or not. to me, i think this is how they'd both act. i love them
Pre-Relationship
August takes interest in Elliot at first
I'd like to think they're at a party or some social situation with the rest of the legends and Elliot's loud obnoxious nature just catches his attention from across the room
He would definetly find Elliot annoying at first, thinking hes too loud or too spunky in public but as they are continuously paired together he finds himself forming a soft spot for Witt. His jokes, his comments on certain things, his over-explaining, his bad jokes, his hair. He thinks Elliot is just so gorgeous every time he sees him at the bar and whatnot. Elliot runs his hands through his own hair so often, flipping it and tossing it and August can't help but stare and stop his hands from twitching.
August wants to run his hands through Elliot's hair so bad. It's so curly and looks taken care of exceptionally well, and August admires the care Elliot takes in his looks
Elliot always jokes about his good looks, and August agrees verbally occasionally (sometimes he likes to tease. when he does, elliot turns cherry red). Witt thinks he's joking or just providing some sort of banter but August is so serious. After a couple of times of this "banter" Elliot starts wondering if he's actual being fr and is very suspicious
Elliot constantly calls him stupid nicknames like "old man" or "geezer" (in a "i don't know what to say to my crush so i'm going to tease them" kind of way) and August would laugh a bit, finding it silly Elliot teases him like that. He'd never let anyone else cross that line, though
Of course August is concerned about the age gap, which would initially deter him from ever saying anything to Elliot.I think Elliot would make a joke about dating older people (perhaps in reference to fusehound, making fun of Fuse's age) but immediatley apologizes and says something along the lines of "i wouldn't mind dating an older person" August would take note of that and tooootally start getting closer to him in hopes of a relationship
I think initially August is really afraid. After having a wife and a whole kid he feels weird, maybe even like he's betraying his family because he's ready to open up and start dating again. Maybe he also feels too old to start dating, which makes him hesitant at first to even say anything to Elliot, but the feeling is squashed soon enough hearing Elliot's comments about liking older people.
August, the old man he is, would struggle with using social media and ask Elliot, a social media warrior, for help. He didn't actually care about using the social media, it was just an excuse to talk to Elliot.
August likes when he explains his little interests in great detail. He'd listen attentively. August would mention something Elliot explained one time and Elliot would be like "you actually listened to me saying that?"
Dating
Elliot thought August was joking at first, when August told Elliot he liked him. I think it would go like:
"Would you ever.... date an old bloke like me?"
"Uhh... Sure, old man! Haha. Why would you ask me that.."
"I want to take you out. On a date."
"Good joke! Haha! Me? And you? Go on a date? It's not like I like you or anything- I mean what."
"I'm serious, Elliot."
"What."
Although Elliot is constantly glazing himself (for lack of a better word haha) i think his self esteem is quite low. I think he'd believe the confession is some sort of joke. He can't quite belive somebody would like him, genuinley. Fans, sure. They're fans. But somebody, genuinley, wholeheartedly liking him romantically was such a foreign idea. After countless rejections, it was almost impossible for him to think he'd be in a real relationship. He did of course have a crush on August, so it wasn't out of the question to confess to him eventually, but he would be expecting the rejection, not August asking him out first.
Elliot spends the night at August's for the first time, and is in shock at how truly big his place is. August kind of enjoys seeing him in awe, and would say "this is yours now too" (my eager king🩷)
August likes when Elliot spends the night, being able to pamper him and take care of him in his own home
August is actually a sweetheart despite his closed-off and stern nature in the games
He would make Elliot breakfast in bed! And when he's too sleepy to do it, he'd make a MRVN do it so they can eat together in the morning
I think their first kiss would be on Elliot's doorstep, after August has driven him home from the bar.
August waits till every patron leaves the bar AND till Elliot cleans up every night at the bar to take him home.
Sometimes Elliot is embarassed that August pampers him so, feeling as though he hasn't earned it
August calls him nicknames like "Sweet boy, (my) dear, (my) darling, love, peach, sweetheart, handsome, love
i'd like to think they keep it a secret for a couple months, but the other legends get suspicious with August staying so late at the bar... alone... with Elliot...... ALONE... on multiple occassions.... raised eyebrow
They only keep it a secret for a second because Mirage is scared of everyone's reactions. of course nobody would actually judge, but he's afraid of everybody calling him gross for dating an actual old man. ballistic is also fine with this because he dislikes media attention and this would surely draw some.
