In a toxic relationship.

I've spent so much time on you and put so much money into this relationship and I feel like I'm not getting anything in return.  You used to give me so much happiness and lately you've been more harm than help.  I used to look to you as an outlet, where I could just not worry about my problems.  But now, you've become one of my greatest sources of irritation.  I have family and friends worried for me and they can see how much this is eating me up inside.  Any normal person would just state the obvious:  we should break up.  

But I hold onto all those great memories we shared in hopes that you'll change, or at least things can go back to the way they used to be.  I guess I'm also afraid that since I've invested so much time in you, if we do break up, then I'll literally have nothing left.  On the flip-side I don't want to stay in something that's going to end up in failure and more misery and more money.

Honestly, we've just become two separate entities and I feel we've become so different there's no looking back now.  I loved everything about you, but you're just too different.  I think the end is near.  I'm just hoping it will be a peaceful separation and the right choice for both our futures.  One thing for sure is that you'll be severely missed.
