What does Talandriel think of High Elves?

Oh. High Elves. Oh dear. My answer is a bit long, and perhaps controversial, so I’ll put it under a cut. Thank you for the question, halayn.

I consider there to be two groups of high elves.

The first is the elves who stood with the rest of the survivors in the ruins of Silvermoon. They were there the day Prince Kael'thas renamed their people Sin'dorei, “children of the blood,” to honor the fallen.  

Some time later, when Rommath returned from Outland and introduced the  siphoning technique, a group of Sin’dorei dissented, were exiled, and changed their name back to Quel'dorei.  Talandriel considers this a reprehensible act of disrespect to their fallen brethren.

Any lingering sympathy she might have felt for the exiled elves was purged along with Dalaran when high elves of the Silver Covenant mobilized against their blood elf counterparts and “neutralized” those Sunreavers who fled Jaina’s wrath.

Talandriel considers the presence of high elves at the Sunwell a slap in the face of every living Sin’dorei, just as reverting to the pre-fall name is an affront to the memory of all those who died.

As a city guardian she is bound to uphold the will of the Regent Lord. She has no choice but to tolerate the presence of sanctioned high elf pilgrims in Quel’thalas. If it were up to her, they would all be expelled (but not “neutralized”).

The other group is those high elves who were simply outside Quel'thalas for the fall and subsequent events.  Alleria Windrunner is an example.

Talandriel’s feelings regarding these individuals depend upon their actions in the days following the fall. Did they return home to help restore their fallen nation?  Did they take the Sin’dorei name?  

If they ignore the plight of their brethren, she would consider them, like the first group of Quel’dorei, anathema.
