A Bond like No Other
Unlike other nationalities, Filipinos are known to have strong bonds with their families. It is a bond that is so strong it is said to be unbreakable. That Filipino trait is known as having close family ties. Having close family ties is a well known trait that exemplifies how deep their love and bond with one another is. Here are a couple of examples on how Filipinos show their close bond with one another.
Have you ever wondered why newlyweds tend to live with either the bride’s or groom’s parents? Well, there are a lot of reasons to why that is so. But I will only name two. The first reason is that the parents of either the bride or groom insist that they live with them .In some cases the two families would fight with one another because they want the couple to live with them. The other reason is that either the bride or groom does not want to be separated from their parents. This is because being separated from their family is something that is very hard for most Filipinos to do.
The second example that shows having close family ties is when siblings stick up for one another. This small act of love and affection goes a long way in keeping the bond strong .It is often seen when one of the siblings encounters people who pull them down. It is also true when one of the siblings face financial problems. Usually, in Filipino customs, the eldest sibling will be the one who helps the other siblings but nowadays it goes either way.
Another example of the Filipino trait of having close family ties is the abundance of family reunions. It is an event that all or most of the family members are looking forward to. It happens when a member of the family celebrates his or her birthday, but it doesn’t end there. Events such as Christmas, weddings, baptismal and more are also events that Filipino families look up to.
Lastly, the most important act on showing close family ties is doing family activities that will strengthen their bond with one another. One activity that Filipinos do consistently is going to church together .It doesn’t only strengthens the families bond with one another but it also strengthens their bond with God. Another activity that strengthens the bond of Filipino families is eating together. During this time the family talks to each other to see how each family member is doing. Spending time with one another is something that Filipino families enjoy doing and at the same time strengthen their relationship with one another.
With all that is said, I can say having good family ties is certainly a trait that should be passed on to future generations, for it exemplifies how deep their love and bond with one another is.
