Unless they wanted to show that their younger selves went through a lot from tender ages. Still, makes no sense the lack of a two minute convo followed by a speech. This left me baffled especially with the two Spocks in the first movie.
jj abrams specifically said that he didn’t like the old star trek series because it was too boring and there were too many speeches and not enough explosions
the two spocks would have been a golden opportunity. old spock giving young spock some much-needed perspective. old spock wisely pontificating about the nature of loss. srsly
