Important Things in Bandstand
1) Ok so like... I never realized from the album recording how bad Donny’s condition is in Just Like It Was Before but he was drunk off his ass and staggering around stage and actually got into a bar fight at one point which was really cool as you got to see his character develop from that
2) Honestly, the way Corey developed Donny as the show went on, showing him getting better at coping before one thing would break him and he’d get bad again was amazing
3) Corey practically transforms into a different person he does all this stuff with his face that really makes you focus on the character of Donny and not the actor playing him
4) JOHNNY IS THE CUTEST I WANT TO HUG HIM
5) Laura Osnes has a bunch of little reprises that don’t show up on the album
6) If you think just listening to Welcome Home (Finale) is emotional then oh boy you’d better bring tissues to that theater I literally started sobbing at the first note
7) Beth Leavel as Julia’s mom is the funniest damn character in that show
8) The scene where Donny tells Julia how Michael died is absolutely heartbreaking
9) I knew Donny had a panic attack at the beginning of Right This Way but I was not™️ prepared to actually see it. If I didn’t know he was an actor I would have thought Corey was having an actual panic attack it was that damn realistic
10) Honestly Corey Cott was So Damn Good and the fact that he wasn’t even nominated for a Tony pisses me off. His portrayal of Donny literally gave me chills at some parts. He was 100% invested in the character and it showed
11) The final note of Love Will Come and Find Me Again is AMAZING Laura is a goddamn QUEEN
12) Welcome Home (Finale) is obviously a very special song and it totally deserved the lengthy applause it gets. Laura is crying during it, Corey just looks so damn hopeful and relieved. That song is honestly the best part of the show
