#banger posting #look actually im going to ramble about fanfiction thoughts in the tags so #long warning #everyone has their tastes when it comes to fics and that's valid!!!#these are just mine!!!#i just don't like fics where they're just doing normal stuff and every other paragraph is just wow i love them but they don't like me #and then it feels like they aren't actually in love #but like it's shoehorned in #because they act platonically except for their thoughts until thry get together and then it's all kisses and like dofferent characters #and i mean its not a bad trope #sometimes i really like it when i want something easy to consume #but im always hyper conscious of doing that in my own writing because that's the one thing i want to AVOID AT ALL COSTS #because i think romance is best shown through actions #even in real life we dont always act on our crushes but despite our best efforts it still shows in minor ways #even sometimes when we don't even realise our own feelings #its like lingering touches here and there #maybe over time you begin to notice when someone has a certain trait and cant help smiling #or that bit of lint on their shoulder you have to pick off #and then you care A LOT about this person #but you don't realise it until they do something that just fills you with joy at the thought of being with this person #not even romantically!!! just being WITH them fills you with a great joy and then you go oh... THAT'S why #that to me is the perfect slow burn #and awkward conversations and subtle conversations about something else entirely that just make you realise how your dynamic makes you happy #so to me those moments speak greater volumes of the depth of their romance than if they just say wow i love them #both have a place in fandom but i guess that's just what I focus on most in my writing #but really i should incorporate both #ramble over for now i gotta do homework
