Minecraft flame banner tutorial (cuz some people on Reddit asked for one)
Pick any banner colour of your choosing and a colour for the fire (you need a darker variation and a lighter variation, eg. lime green and cactus green or purple and magenta)
With the darker flame colour put the thing banner pattern on your banner
With dye of the same colour as your banner, put the Field Masoned pattern (aka the brick pattern) on your banner
With the darker flame colour, put a chevron (bottom triangle) on your banner
With dye of the same colour as your banner, put a lozenge (diamond) on your banner
With the darker flame colour, put a base gradient (gradient starting from the bottom going upwards) on your banner
Finally, use the lighter flame colour to put indented base (bottom spikes) on your banner
And now you guys can all make flame banners for yourselves :)
Select your image from your photo gallery ! I like using picsart cuz it can be done relatively easy and from your phone. Just choose an adequate size banner, scroll through the bottom icons, click “draw,” then “fill” and u can choose the color of the background. For this one I chose white !
Step 2: Character
Add your character ! I usually like choosing a transparent image of them so they can fit seamlessly into the background. For this one I chose a cute guy from the webtoon I was reading. Just click “add image” from the bottom icons and put them wherever u wanna.
Step 3: Text
You can add the title of your fic or the name of your blog or literally anything with the text option ! In this case I wrote the trope of the webtoon lol. You can also choose the font and color and can even use a color picker if you want the font to be within the same color palette as the rest of your banner.

Note: you don’t have to click apply (top right) after each step, but some functions won’t be allowed until you click it. Once you click apply, you can’t go back to edit, so make sure you like it before clicking.
Step 4: Overlay/Filter
This step isn’t always necessary, but I wasn’t satisfied with the way the banner looked so I wanted to add a cute pink filter over everything. For this step, go to “add image” and select the image of the color you saved. You can google “pink hex code” or “pink color” for samples of any color. Add it to your banner and stretch it out so it covers everything.
Once it’s on top of everything, click “blend” and u can scroll through the intensities of the merging of colors. I liked the “lighten” option for this one, but “multiply” typically works best !
And here’s the final product ! A cute little banner to be added to any fic. Feel free to download the image and color over it so u can have a copy of the banner size. This can also be uploaded into Canva if you don’t wanna use the dimensions ! You can also use the overlay step anytime u wanna color over a manga panel for a cute profile pic x3
hello, everyone! this will be my very first banner tutorial so i apologise in advance if my explanations aren’t clear enough (although, you’re more than welcome to message me for clarifications!).
disclaimer: i do not own any of the pictures or colourings used in this banner.
without further ado, let’s get right into it!
step 1: open a new document with 650x200 as the size (you can go for 500x200, but 650x200 is the one that i usually use for my banners)
step 2: once a blank document has been opened, place image 1 and image 2 side by side. it’ll look like this:
extra note: as for the background, i try to use pictures that go with the vibe of the banner or the fic. that said, it’s not necessary as you can always play with the colourings later on to make sure everything looks cohesive.
step 3: add vector mask to image 2 so you can erase some parts of it in order to ensure that it blends well with the other picture. use the brush tool to erase and make sure to set the hardness of the brush to 0. this is how it’ll look like once you’ve done erasing some parts:
step 4: add texture 1 and texture 2. change texture 1 from normal to soft light and texture 2 from normal to screen.
step 5: add laura’s and niall’s pictures and place them behind the textures. add vector mask to both of their pictures like in step 3 and then erase the background of both pictures. since they’re behind the textures, you can get away with a slightly messy erase. i also add vector mask for both textures and erase the areas of laura and niall’s faces using the brush tool. this is how it’ll look:
step 6: add this stars texture to both sides and change them from normal > screen.
step 7: time for text! this is definitely personal preferences, but i like to place my text in between my characters as i think it draws more attention that way. that said, you can place your text wherever you want, there’s no rule in that. as for this banner i use, yasmin rothem for invisible and axis for strings. i make two layers of each text and use the colour white and #bfb188.
step 8: i add this image on the left side of the banner as i want it to look fuller rather than empty there. again, add vector mask, erase the lower part of the image so it’ll look like this:
see the minor difference between this image and the above image?
step 9: add colorings! i use psd 1 and psd 2. for psd 1 i change the opacity to 35% and psd 2 to 50%. this is how it’ll look like.
step 10: if you have topaz clean, go on topaz clean. but first you must create layer of all of the images you’ve used by clicking command + option + shift + e (that’s for mac, i’m not sure about windows, sorry!) these are the settings i use on topaz: clean: strength (0), threshold (0.68) radius 10. edges: accent (2), radius (1.96), sharpness (0.20). when you’re done with topaz, create another layer so you can sharpen the image. this is how it’ll look like:
it’s supposed to look brighter but tumblr makes the image look less vibrance but anyway that’s besides the point because the point is, you’re done!
i hope this will be able to help you in banner making and like i said above, if you need any help or you have any questions for clarifications, hit me up.
Well first I open Paint.net, which to my knowledge is free but i’ve had it for so long that I can’t really remember. Anyway the paint.net program looks like this
next you want too select the tiny square icon on the little bar. Then you want to make the blue the size and shape of what you want your banner to be.
Next you want to select the icon next to the square on the bar and just click on the grey, After that you copy it (for shortcut use ctrl c) Then you go to file and select new. The width and height will already be set to the size and shape you selected so all you have too do is click ok.
Now the canvas will be the shape and size you want now all you have to do is download some sprites or transparents, choose what color you want it to be, and put what you want to say.
Now for some small tips.
If you want the sentence to be a certain color just select a color on the pallette.
When your in the sentence maker icon there will be an option to pick different kinds of fonts you should find it on the top of the screen.
If you want something to glow just look at the top, select Effects and go to the photos options there you will find a glow button click on it and then mess around until its the way you like it, then just click done/ok.
If you want a gradient color for your banner click on the blue square on the bar. then select a color on the palette.
I suggest you put everything in different layers I do it like this: one layer for the colored banner, one for each sprite or transparent, and one for the sentence. when your ready to merge everything select the top layer and then select the merge layer down button that’s on the layers tool. Then save it as a pdn first and name it what you want to call it and then save it as a png.
BANNER TUTORIAL selenapastel // If something here was useful for you like or rebog the post, it’s very important. Any doubt send me an ask, and then i’ll help you.
Você irá fazer pequenas linhas no “papel”:
Selecione a primeira camada:
Qualquer dúvida me envie uma ask. Vejo você no próximo tutorial.
Hi, I'm a pretty new peep to the simming community and I was wondering how everyone else makes those banners for legacies?? I've been asking around for help and I would really appreciate if you would post like a tutorial or something. Thank you and have a great day!
I’ve had this ask in my ask box for like a week now… whoops.
But it’s time for another
Well, there are many different kinds of legacy/story banners. Here are just a few of the most popular ones I’ve seen:
NOTES:
Feel free to save these banners and use them as templates!
All of these banners were made with photoshop. I’m not sure how to use these on other editing programs like gimp or paint.net, but I don’t think they’re that different??
1.
This is the one i see the most, and it’s pretty simple, i don’t think you need a tutorial for that.
2.
These ones are pretty simple too, just type your title on top of the the banner.
3.
To get the borders on this banner, just follow this tutorial.
4.
This is a personal favorite banner of mine, and I actually used it in a *ahem* cringy legacy of mine that will never see the light of day again.
Tutorial Below!
1. First, start with your banner template, and fill it with the color you want to be at the bottom of your banner. I chose white.
2. Create a new layer and select the rectangular marquee tool on the left hand column.
3. With the marquee tool still selected, go to the top bar on your screen, go to the dropdown menu next to the word “style” and select “fixed ratio”. Then set the width to the same width as your banner, and set the height to half the height of your banner.
For example, my document was 768x90 pixels, so I entered 768 for the width, and 45 pixels for the height, which is half of 90.
4. Using the marquee tool, click and drag from one corner of your banner to the other side, and fill with the color of your choice.
You should only be able to select half of your banner.
4. Then, add in your titles, and you’re done!
These are only just a few basic kinds of legacy banners, so don’t feel obligated to only do one of those. You don’t even have to use one if you want! If there was a specific banner you’d want me to do a tutorial on, send me another ask.
And welcome to the community! You’ll have a blast! :)
thank you! honestly, the banner is the “main” decoration. the rest of my profile’s colors all pretty much depend on that picture.
i’m guessing you’d like a tutorial, so here it is:
~~~
i found a Homestuck panel i liked. it’s was a GIF, so i screenshotted a frame of it. it’s easier to work with than static pictures!
i cropped the screenshot, then further edited it on the default photos app like so:
(the words are in Italian, but i’m sure the icons look the same)
i created a 1280x720 canvas on ibisPaint X and added the edited picture, leaving some free space.
i filled said free space with a dark color from the picture, so that it would contrast enough (in this case, i used #280000).
to create even more contrast, i added a cute lace picture i found here on Tumblr between the two parts—but it was black, too dark to contrast, so i inverted its color and made it white using this tool right here:
lastly, i added the “buttons”, found on Pinterest. you can find them too by searching up “icons for Instagram stories”—or, if you need something more specific, look up, for example, “button pfps/icons”!
since they had a white background, i used the “magic wand” tool, selected the background color and erased it. to make the buttons more “circular”, i used the circle tool as well, and erased just outside of it. here’s an example:
then, i positioned the edited buttons in the free space, occasionally modifying the size, “length” etc. to make them fit.
~~~
aaand that’s all. i hope my English was bearable LOL.
