BAPS review.

Today was the premiere of Lifetime's new series "BAPs". If you aren't sure what "BAP" means, it's an acronym for Black American Prince or Princess. Some even say it means Beautiful African Prince or Princess. Back to the show. I have one word to describe it: Ridiculous. Basically it opened up with the self proclaimed queen of the BAP's, Anisha, describing what a BAP is. And she makes it very clear that these people think they are better than everyone. She claims that they aren't like their "urban" counterparts. She says that they come from educated parents and attended private schools and always have the best. Throughout the show, it was made very clear that Kristen and Anisha, the two women it seems that the show is centered around, are not only snooty, but downright mean. These are the type of women who don't just talk behind your back. They are the type of women to straight up judge you, in public, and claim that they are classy and elite. It's the most pompous behavior I have ever seen on a reality show. It would be different if the show were called "St. Louis Clique" or something of the sort. But it chaps my hide that the shows title puts an emphasis on the fact that the cast is black. This show could easily be one that shows the black community in a different light. But it appears to unfortunately be what we see on most reality shows with black people. They argue and get wild. These people just bring it to another level for being so wrapped up in the fact that they are educated and have money. Sigh. Fingers crossed that it gets cancelled, or turns out to show us in a different light. Being involved in charity. Solving problems without becoming belligerent. Adults behaving like adults. If any of you watched the show, how did you feel about it?

This BAPs show is already tryna irritate the life outta me. Being that I’m one of these “urban” black people that the BAPS don’t identify with annoys me. I’m not any less or more black than any of these people on this show. And they just making us as a people seem ignorant.
