Graffiti artist turned celebrity artist, Jean-Michel Basquiat’s story will soon be hitting the Great White Way. The show will be produced by Alan D. Marks (Dear, Evan Hansen) and Barbara Marks. The director is John Doyle (Sweeney Todd), and Jon Batiste, the current band leader for CBS’ The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will be the musical director.

A clinched fist plunges a large knife through the book titled Holy Bible. The swastika designates the aggressor’s political affiliation. The impaled Bible includes a book mark that seems to “bleed” from the text to the poster. The poster also refers indirectly to the Nazi destruction of books and limits on free speech and religious freedom.
