I would love to see Barbie Nutcracker ideas, I love that movie
Hey!! Sorry this took so long! But at last I have some doodles to share, starting with a wedding
Cuz of course they went back and got married in Parthenia. Clara's family is also there, Tommy's having the time of his life in a candyland and her grandfather is both deeply unsettled to find out magic exists but also happy that his granddaughter is married and to a king at that. Aunt Elizabeth is just beaming with matchmaking pride.
(Yes I am one of those who likes having Eric keep some of his nutcracker traits when he turns human xD Like come on! He's so much more distinct (and attractive) that way xD )
Beyond that though alot of my thoughts are actually about Aunt Elizabeth's prequel adventures in Parthenia.
My idea is that at some point in her late teens, she came across the locket that acts a link between Parthenia and regular world, (which would be some sort of ancient artifact) and begins having adventures there at night to escape her lackluster home life.
She becomes friends with the Crown Princess of Parthenia, Pirlipat, and eventually rises to become her Magical Advisor in the court, and Eric's godmother.
However, trouble begins after Pirlipat marries. Her husband is a good man but doesn't realize his old friend The Mouse is absolutely gunning for the throne (and is probably involved in both Pirlipat's and Chevalier's untimely deaths, one after the other).
The Mouse is also a magical adept, he and Elizabeth clash frequently, (doesn't help their animosity that she likes to shapeshift into an owl--yes that's her channeling through the owl on the clock) but neither manages to drive out the other until The Mouse, as we know, eventually seizes power, becoming Regent after the king's death. After doing so, he turns Prince Eric into a nutcracker, and Elizabeth flees with him back into her world. Following a prophecy given to her as they fled, Elizabeth is forced to leave the locket behind, disguised on a Christmas ornament, and she begins traveling the globe, trying to find a cure for her friend's son, so he may return to free Parthenia and take back his throne.
Eventually, her journey leads her to discover that the one prophecied to help restore Eric is none other than her own neice, Clara, and the rest is history.
(Kinda love how in this Clara and Eric's roles are swapped from the OG Nutcracker book xD)
(I also included a non-canonical doodle of Elizabeth fleeing Parthenia with baby Clara, as when I was a babychild I thought 'oh she's the Sugarplum Princess, obviously she's a real princess who lost her kingdom!' But now I like the thought that she just becomes a princess through her character and bravery and not because she was born as one. But thought I'd throw it in)
Also included some doodles of Eric's parents and him and Captain "Candy" hanging out as kids :)
Some other random thoughts on Barbie Nutcracker I had:
Time obviously passes differently in Parthenia, and Eric had to go on a years long quest after Clara got sent back and the locket was lost to find another way back to her (maybe maybe will doodle something about this, if there's interest)
The capital of Parthenia is Confiturembourg (name of the kingdom in the book)
Mother Ginger was Eric's nanny and later helped look after orphaned children during the mouse's reign
Clara's family ends up moving to Parthenia and Major Mint and her grandfather become fast grumpy old man friends
Clara and Eric have a daughter named Marie eventually (after Clara's og name in the book--may also doodle this later if there's interest)
