Potocki Palace in Lviv

Potocki Palace one of the most famous palaces in Lviv, built between 1880 and 1890 for Polish count Alfred II Potocki. The project was designed by French architect Louis Dauvergne, which gave the palace its elegant French Neo-Renaissance style, inspired by aristocratic residences of 19th-century France.

The Potocki family was among the wealthiest and most influential noble families in Europe, and the palace became a symbol of power, luxury, and high society life in Lviv. Inside, it featured richly decorated halls with stucco, marble, gilded details, and large crystal chandeliers. The palace hosted balls, official receptions, and gatherings of the aristocracy.

After World War II, the building was nationalized. Over time, it served various state purposes, and today it is part of the Lviv National Art Gallery and functions as a museum open to visitors.

The palace is located at 15 Copernicus Street in Lviv, Ukraine, and is considered one of the most beautiful architectural landmarks of the city.

Hello, my name is Aurevians.

This was my first major project of creating a palace, an attempt to recreate a real-life structure, but unfortunately I wasn’t able to bring it exactly to perfection. From my side, there was also a lot of improvisation.

Probably the most difficult part was recreating the entrance courtyard, since in The Sims there are unfortunately no oval stairs or smooth curved shapes that would allow me to create a proper carriage entrance under the main door. The back side was also challenging, but I managed to handle it.

As for the interior, it was mostly improvisation, and I designed the rooms according to my own taste. Of course, there are a few original rooms, but for now the interior of the palace is not fully complete. Still, I am sharing screenshots with you and showing how a story is beginning to form in my Sims universe.

Viviana II Gives State of the Union Address,

Her Illustrious Majesty, Queen Viviana II opened the Houses of Parliment this past Tuesday with an Address to The Union in review of the previous year's achievements and announced the current government's intentions for the year that will follow. In her speech was announced the Royal Household's intention to restore its historical court postitions, in aide of the government's employment initative. This decision marks Her reign's first departure from that of the policy of Viviana I; whose Household afforded solely office professionals & skilled laborers. Already appointed to the rank of Hofdame were The Queen's cousins, the Princesses Celina and Claire in March. Further appoinments to the Royal Houshold and their rank shall be announced at a later date. Enjoying, already, the privileges of their station, the Princesses were adorned with tiaras from the private collection of Viviana II.

Thornolia Royal Television (TRT) – Special Edition: "Napoleon V in Thornolia", The Investiture Ceremony at the Royal Palace.

Anne-Sophie Maitre: For the first time in history, an investiture of L’Ordre de la Salamandre is being publicly broadcast for all to see. A decision personally made by Monsieur le Roi Aurélien.

Stéphane Bernard: We must fully appreciate, dear viewers, just how extraordinary this moment is in Thornolian monarchical history. We are quite literally at the very heart of power, in what I would almost describe as the sacred intimacy of the Crown. Until now, this kind of ceremony belonged almost to the realm of state secrecy!

Stéphane Bernard: Here is the King! And just look at these images, they are absolutely magnificent… And Madame Royale Eleanor, who is truly the keystone of this ceremony. Everything revolves around her tonight, it is fascinating.

Anne-Sophie Maitre: En effet, Stéphane. The entire ceremonial institution rests upon her shoulders, and it’s clear both our countries will not take their eyes off her. Especially as her attendance marks a break with tradition, as Madame la Reine Anaïs – who normally would confer the Order – is not attending the ceremony.

Stéphane Bernard: Both our queens are absent. I’m sure you know, in monarchies, nothing is ever insignificant. Even absences speak volumes. And here, the absence of Queen Anaïs…

Anne-Sophie Maitre: Oui, le palais de Thornolie made no further comment on the matter when asked either.

Herald: Sa Majesté Impériale, Napoléon V, Empereur des Français !

Stéphane Bernard: Ah, voilà the young Emperor! Napoleon V… what a magnificent entrance! There is something extremely controlled about him, and yet at the same time very modern, very embodied. One can sense a desire to make the imperial role live differently, without ever abandoning its splendour.

Anne-Sophie Maitre: The French Empress and current regent, Charlotte, was unable to make the journey to Thornolia due to her current pregnancy. I’m sure we can agree that, like all of us, Her Imperial Majesty is watching these images live.

Stéphane Bernard: You are absolutely right, Anne-Sophie. And one can easily imagine the regent Charlotte, in that quiet anticipation, fully associated with this moment of history unfolding before our eyes.

Anne-Sophie Maitre: Monsieur le Roi Aurélien appears very enthusiastic for this State Visit, truly a beautiful greeting between the two sovereigns.

Stéphane Bernard: And may I add one thing: these images are precious. Symbolism is everywhere, everything is meticulously staged. This is not theatre. This is a true declaration of friendship between our two countries, and we are all delighted to witness it.

Anne-Sophie Maitre: This is especially true for the Thornolian people, for on this occasion, we cannot help but be reminded of when the crown managed to prevent a civil war by agreeing to hear the concerns of its subjects back in the 1850s. It was from there the Crown always made it a point to consider all its people in its decisions. So being able to witness this moment for the first time…truly momentous.

Stéphane Bernard: Another example of great political modernity, one which all monarchs should, I believe, take inspiration from today.

Stéphane Bernard: L’Ordre de la Salamandre is the highest honour of your kingdom. Created in 1851, it is an order that cannot be understood through description alone, but through the living memory of the entire realm.

Anne-Sophie Maitre: Absolutely, Stéphane. The tradition of having the queen bestow the order dates all the way back to the regency of Eleanor de Thornolie. She personally wished to thank those who remained loyal to the Crown during the political unrest, and broke royal protocol in order to do so.

Madame Royale, Eleanor de Thornolie : Before the Crown, before this kingdom, and before the memory of those who came before us, I name you Compagnon de l’Ordre de la Salamandre. Bear this honour with dignity, loyalty, and unwavering devotion to Thornolia.

(Solemn silence.)

Anne-Sophie Maitre: A particularly moving moment here au palais…

Stéphane Bernard: Listen to that silence… It is very rare on television. We are witnessing a moment of total solemnity, almost suspended outside of time. And Napoleon V knows it, he is extremely focused. His Imperial Majesty fully understands the historical weight of this moment.

Madame Royale, Eleanor de Thornolie : La loyauté ne cède point à la flamme.

The entire assembly repeats the motto aloud : Loyalty endures the flame!

Anne-Sophie Maitre: The eternal motto of l’Ordre de la Salamandre. Emperor Napoleon V is receiving two honours today: he is one of the very few foreign sovereigns to enter the throne room, but he is also the youngest recipient of the Order.

Stéphane Bernard: And, as it happens - and this is an absolutely remarkable coincidence, dear friends - his birthday is tomorrow. He will be twenty years old. Twenty years old… which is extraordinarily young at this level of responsibility.

Stéphane Bernard: And just look at this… just look at these images! They are absolutely historic. We are witnessing something quite fascinating with Napoleon V and Eleanor of Thornolia: the encounter between a centuries-old institution and a crowned youth who, quite clearly, already intends to leave his own mark on the great narrative of monarchies.

Anne-Sophie Maitre: So, Stéphane, have you fully grasped the meaning of the Order’s star?

Stéphane Bernard: It’s an absolutely magnificent star, composed of these eight radiant points… I can’t name them all, but each point embodies, if you will, the Thornolian virtues. We’ve heard about loyalty, for example. And at the center, the royal coat of arms, the crowned salamander. You know, that mythical fire-resistant creature. The message is clear: "By virtue of our virtues, we survive trials; we pass through the flames of history without perishing." We are in Thornolia, so it was only fitting that one of its greatest jewels should be set with gold and the most beautiful green emeralds imaginable.

Anne-Sophie Maitre : Pour la première fois dans l’Histoire, une cérémonie d’intronisation à l’Ordre de la Salamandre est retransmise en direct pour que tout le monde puisse la suivre. Une décision prise personnellement par Monsieur le Roi Aurélien.

Stéphane Bernard : Nous devons pleinement prendre conscience, chers téléspectateurs, à quel point ce moment est extraordinaire dans l’histoire monarchique thornolienne. Nous sommes littéralement au cœur même du pouvoir, dans ce que je qualifierais presque d’intimité sacrée de la Couronne. Jusqu’à présent, ce genre de cérémonie relevait presque du secret d’État !

Stéphane Bernard : Voici le roi ! Et regardez ces images, elles sont absolument magnifiques… Et Madame Royale Eleanor, qui est véritablement la pierre angulaire de cette cérémonie. Tout tourne autour d’elle ce soir, c’est fascinant.

Anne-Sophie Maitre : En effet, Stéphane. Toute l’institution cérémonielle repose sur ses épaules, et il est clair que nos deux pays ne la quitteront pas des yeux. Sa présence marque une rupture avec la tradition, puisque Madame la Reine Anaïs – qui aurait normalement dû remettre l’Ordre – n’assiste pas à la cérémonie.

Stéphane Bernard : Nos deux souveraines sont absentes. Comme vous le savez sans doute, dans les monarchies, rien n'est jamais anodin. Même les absences sont lourdes de sens. Et ici, l'absence de la reine Anaïs…

Anne-Sophie Maitre : Oui, le palais de Thornolie n'a fait aucun autre commentaire à ce sujet lorsqu'on l'a interrogé.

Héraut: Sa Majesté Impériale, Napoléon V, Empereur des Français !

Stéphane Bernard : Ah, voilà le jeune empereur ! Napoléon V… quelle entrée incroyable ! Il dégage quelque chose d’extrêmement maîtrisé, tout en étant très moderne, très présent. On sent chez lui la volonté de faire vivre le rôle impérial autrement, sans jamais renoncer à sa splendeur.

Anne-Sophie Maitre : L’impératrice de Francesim, son épouse et actuelle régente, Charlotte, n’a pas pu faire le voyage jusqu’en Thornolie en raison de sa grossesse. Je suis sûr que nous sommes tous d’accord pour dire que, comme nous tous, Sa Majesté impériale regarde ces images en direct.

Stéphane Bernard : Vous avez tout à fait raison, Anne-Sophie. Et l’on imagine aisément la régente Charlotte, dans cette attente silencieuse, pleinement associée à ce moment historique qui se déroule sous nos yeux.

Anne-Sophie Maitre : Le roi Aurélien semble très enthousiaste à l’idée de cette visite d’État ; c’est vraiment une belle rencontre entre les deux souverains.

Stéphane Bernard : Et j’aimerais ajouter une chose : ces images sont précieuses. Le symbolisme est omniprésent, tout est mis en scène avec minutie. Ce n’est pas du théâtre. C’est une véritable déclaration d’amitié entre nos deux pays, et nous sommes tous ravis d’y assister.

Anne-Sophie Maitre : Cela vaut tout particulièrement pour le peuple thornolien, car en cette occasion, on ne peut s’empêcher de repenser à cette époque, dans les années 1850, où la Couronne avait réussi à éviter une guerre civile en acceptant d’écouter les préoccupations de ses sujets. C’est à partir de là que la Couronne s’est toujours attachée à prendre en compte l’ensemble de son peuple dans ses décisions. Pouvoir donc assister à ce moment pour la première fois… c’est vraiment un événement historique.

Stéphane Bernard : Un autre exemple de grande modernité politique, dont tous les monarques devraient, je pense, s’inspirer aujourd’hui.

Stéphane Bernard : L’Ordre de la Salamandre est le plus grand ordre honorifique de votre royaume. Créé en 1851, il ne peut se comprendre par sa seule description, mais à travers la mémoire vivante de tout le pays.

Anne-Sophie Maitre : Tout à fait, Stéphane. La tradition selon laquelle la reine remet personnellement cet ordre remonte à la régence d’Éléonore de Thornolie. Elle souhaitait remercier personnellement ceux qui étaient restés fidèles à la Couronne pendant les troubles politiques, et a enfreint le protocole royal pour ce faire.

Madame Royale, Eleanor de Thornolie : Devant la Couronne, devant ce royaume, et à la mémoire de ceux qui nous ont précédés, je vous nomme Compagnon de l’Ordre de la Salamandre. Portez cet honneur avec dignité, loyauté, et avec un dévouement sans faille pour la Thornolie.

Anne-Sophie Maitre: Un moment particulièrement émouvant ici au palais...

Stéphane Bernard: Écoutez ce silence… C’est très rare à la télévision. Nous assistons à un moment de solennité absolue, comme suspendu hors du temps. Et Napoléon V le sait, il est extrêmement concentré. Sa Majesté Impériale comprend pleinement la portée historique de cet instant.

Madame Royale, Eleanor de Thornolie : La loyauté ne cède point à la flamme.

Anne-Sophie Maitre : La devise éternelle de l’Ordre de la Salamandre. L’empereur Napoléon V reçoit aujourd’hui deux distinctions : il est l’un des très rares souverains étrangers à entrer dans la salle du trône thornolienne, mais il est aussi le plus jeune récipiendaire de l’Ordre.

Stéphane Bernard : Et, comme par hasard – et c’est une coïncidence absolument remarquable, chers amis – c’est son anniversaire demain. Il aura vingt ans. Vingt ans… ce qui est extraordinairement jeune à ce niveau de responsabilité.

Stéphane Bernard : Et regardez donc ça… regardez ces images ! Elles sont tout simplement historiques. Nous assistons à quelque chose de tout à fait fascinant avec Napoléon V et Éléonore de Thornolie : la rencontre entre une institution séculaire et un jeune souverain qui, de toute évidence, entend déjà laisser sa propre empreinte dans la grande histoire des monarchies.

Anne-Sophie Maitre : Alors, Stéphane, avez-vous bien révisé la signification de l’étoile de l’Ordre ?

Stéphane Bernard : C’est une étoile absolument magnifique, composée de ces huit branches rayonnantes… Je ne peux pas toutes les nommer, mais chaque branche incarne, si l’on peut dire, les vertus thornoliennes. On a parlé de la loyauté ou de la dignité, par exemple. Et au centre, les armoiries royales, la salamandre couronnée. Vous savez, cette créature mythique ignifuge. Le message est clair : « Grâce à nos vertus, nous survivons aux épreuves ; nous traversons les flammes de l’histoire sans périr. » Nous sommes en Thornolie, il était donc tout à fait normal que l’un de ses plus beaux joyaux soit serti d’or et des plus belles émeraudes vertes qu’on puisse imaginer.
