For alexia and amor, would you do a Christmas/smut fic where they attend a family or team Christmas party and Alexia tries to take advantage of all the mistletoe hanging and always pulls amor in for kisses. She means for it to start off all innocent and cute but doesn’t realize how turned on she actually gets. Amor is oblivious at first but sees how worked up Alexia is getting and plans out their after hours.
Hi my lovely. So I loved this and I thought it was cute. I hope you enjoy.
Mistletoe
Alexia Putellas x Reader
Description: you and Alexia go to the Barça Christmas party and Alexia has a plan.
TW: final little bit gets a little smutty but there’s no actual sex or anything.
Beautiful Girl Masterlist
You should have known that Alexia was up to something long before the holiday season actually started. It was just before the international break when she mysteriously disappeared off somewhere. It wasn’t abnormal for her to go places without you, which is what made it all the weirder that she was acting so strange about it. She had returned all flustered and scurried off into the spare room, re-emerging twenty minutes or so later and insisting that you were ‘not to go into that room, under any circumstances’. You had quirked an eyebrow and laughed, opening your arms for her to flop down into and agreeing with a quiet kiss to the top of her head.
It wasn’t until she had agreed to help Mapí set up the Barça Christmas party that you knew something was really going on. Ale usually hated setting up for them, often having to be reminded by you that it was somewhat expected considering she was basically synonymous with Barça Femení at this point.
Instead of grumping and grouching, wrapping her arms around your waist and refusing to let you move when you reminded her for the 10th time that it really was time to get ready, she disappeared into the spare room, sauntering off with a suspiciously full bag and barely an “adios” and a quick peck on the cheek.
You narrowed your eyes at the space where Alexia once stood.
The party was in full swing by the time you arrived, the fancy hall decorated to the nines with Blaugrana tinsel and balloons.
“Mi amor,” Ale called, her face bright as she almost ran over to you.
“Hello, baby.” You laughed, caught off guard as she tugged you into her. You reached up, about to kiss her when she squeaked. You froze, furrowing your brows.
“Nada, nada. No te preocupes.” Nothing, nothing. Don’t worry. She smiled, letting her gaze flit across your face. “Let’s go by the tree, sí?” Before you had a chance to reply, she was dragging you through the crowd.
“Ale, baby, slow down.” You giggled, almost stumbling at her speed.
“Let’s have a picture?” Ale turned positioning you exactly where she wanted you.
“Ok.” You blinked, still slightly dazed at her general demeanour.
You turned willingly enough though, smiling at Ale as she tucked you into her side. Habitually, you rested your hand on her stomach, feeling the warmth and strength of her abs.
The camera flashed, almost blinding you.
You were about to dismiss the photographer politely when she showed you the photo. Honestly, you couldn’t have cared less about the picture in that moment. You had spotted a Photo Booth by the door that you know Alexia, and probably Kika, Mapí and Marta, would be forcing you into at some point in the evening.
“Look,” Alexia gasped. “Muérdago.” Mistletoe. She pointed to the sprig of leaves and white berries that were dangling from the ceiling, miraculously right over where you were posing. “What is the tradition, mi amor, with muérdago?”
“Kissing?”
“If you insist.” Ale giggled. “We cannot break the tradition. It would be bad luck.”
You could tell by the tone of Alexia’s voice that she knew exactly what she was doing. Her hand came to cup your jaw. “Puedo besarte, mi amor?” Can I kiss you, mi amor?
“Of course, beautiful girl. Always.” You whispered.
Delicately, as if you were made of glass, Alexia pressed her lips to yours, her fingers tightening slightly against your jaw as her hand settled on her hip.
“Mi niña bonita,” she murmured as she pulled back. “It’s a good tradition, no?”
“Until you’re caught under the mistletoe with Pere or Pedri or Gavi.” You wiggled your eyebrows, cackling loudly at her horrified expression. “Or worse, Mapí.” You couldn’t help but tease her.
“Do not.” Alexia huffed, pulling you into her for a hug.
“Speaking of Leòn, where is her and her better half? I’ve missed Ingrid.”
You knew Alexia was up to something when she refused to stray from your side, even for a minute. When you went to hug Ingrid, Alexia kept her grasp tight, leading to you awkwardly one-arm hugging your best friend.
“How’s France, traitor?” You said with pursed lips.
Ingrid just smiled, rolling her eyes. You had spoke to her on the phone a minimum of 3 times a week since she left, you knew exactly how France was.
“I see Ale is up to something.” Ingrid ignored your jab, lowering her voice and nodding to Ale’s hand tightly in yours.
Alexia and Mapí were enwrapped in their conversation, both of them talking in mix of Spanish and Catalan that was far too fast for you to keep up with. They were frequently looking up, Mapí covering her mouth with her hand, like they were discussing tactics over a free kick.
“What do you think they’re planning?” Ingrid asked, fully aware that both of them were not listening to a word either of you would say, although Alexia still kept a tight grip on your hand.
“Something to do with mistletoe.”
You had caught onto Alexia’s little scheme the moment she over-exaggerated her lack of knowledge of mistletoe.
“Ah,” Ingrid chuckled. “Wanna have some fun?”
“Anything in particular?”
“They want to fuck around with some mistletoe? Why don’t we let them find out?”
“I like how your brain works, Engen.” You wiggled your eyebrows. “You should come back to Barça.”
Ingrid laughed, rolling her eyes. “I missed you too.”
It took you all of 5 minutes to spot about 10 different locations that had mistletoe hanging over it.
“Ale,” you cooed, hugging on her hand.
“Sí?” Her head snapped to you.
“Let’s go dance,” you asked, taking a step closer to her. You could see her take a steadying breath. “C’mon, beautiful, I want to feel your arms around me.” She swallowed, her eyes widening slightly as she registered your words.
The music was some standard Christmas songs, the beat more upbeat but you didn’t care as you slipped your hands around Alexia’s waist, pulling her close to you.
“Have you had a good year, baby?” You asked.
“Football or non-football?” She asked.
“I know we’re at our work Christmas party, but let’s say non-football.”
“It’s been the best year, mi amor.” You felt her hand play with the hairs at the base of your neck. “Don’t know how you manage to make every year better than the last.”
“I don’t do anything, beautiful girl.”
“Cállate, sí lo haces.” Shut up, yes you do. Alexia hated how you often put yourself down. “You love me.” She said simply. “And you let me love you. That in itself means more than you will ever know.”
You could feel the heat in your cheeks. “T'estimo, noia meva bonica.” I love you, my beautiful girl.
“We are under mistletoe.” Alexia whispered.
“Got to keep up the tradition, no?” You said smoothly, although your heart thumped erratically.
You watched as her cheeks bloomed a pretty pink colour, visible even under the dim lights.
You kissed her slow and deep. Letting your lips linger in a way that far too long for a work event. She tasted like home. Happiness and safety all wrapped into one. Her lips were soft and perfectly balanced as they slotted against yours. She hummed throatily, a low sound that made a shiver trickle down your spine.
Alexia was dazed slightly as you pulled back, not expecting you to have kissed her so intensely.
“Love you, baby.” Alexia felt you whisper against her lips.
It was a couple of hours and many, many, mistletoe-induced kisses later that Alexia was finally able to drag you into the photo booth. It was surprisingly spacious, but that didn’t stop you from hauling her onto your lap, your arm wrapping around her waist.
Not for the first time tonight, you were able to fully appreciate Alexia’s outfit. A long silvery-black dress with a slit up one side, leaving her strong thigh bare for you to feel the smooth skin and rippling muscle.
“Did I tell you how good you look tonight?” You asked, pushing your hand higher up her thigh.
“Once or twice,” she smiled down at you, blinking slowly, eyes full of love.
“Well let me tell you a third time then.” You winked, slowly drawing soft lines up and down the bare skin of her leg. “You look so pretty, my gorgeous girl.”
“Gracias, mi amor.” She tilted your chin back, kissing you gently.
“Should we take our pictures then?” You asked after a moment.
“Can the first one be a nice one?” She asked, leaning forward to tap on the little screen.
“Any photo with you in it is nice,” you flirted smoothly, chuckling as you heard a huff escape her lips.
“You know what I mean.” She rolled her eyes.
“I do,” you conceded. “And of course, baby.” You readjusted yourself, resting your chin on her shoulder. The camera flashed once.
Without really thinking about it, you pushed your hand higher, fixing Alexia’s legs open so your fingers could lightly graze against the lace of her underwear.
You heard her stutter as the camera flashed again.
You began drawing a few slow, lazy circles over her clit, smiling as she turned her head to capture your lips in a messy kiss.
The camera flashed again.
“Llévame a casa, mi amor.” Alexia muttered. “Por favor.”
You smiled against her lips, never stopping the agonisingly slow circles.
“But what about all the mistletoe, baby? It would be a shame to waste your plans, no?” You teased.
“Fuck mistletoe.” She mumbled, curling her hips and bucking into your hand. “Fuck me instead.”
A/n: Sorry for kind of going MIA, but I have had absolutely no motivation to write, but I think I'm back now, and this has been in my drafts for a while so have this while I write the requests people have given me.
Summary: You and Alexia decide that it is time to take the next step in your relationship.
You and Alexia had always been close, from the first time you both turned up to La Masia for your trials for Barcelona, both of you being the new girls together really started a friendship to last a life time.
However, when you were in your teenage years, round about when you were 15 you started to realise that you were different from most of the girls you knew, you could never explain it at first but ultimately it was as simple as you liked girls, well one girl in particular, your best friend, Alexia. You were always the quiet one of the two of you so when Alexia came out and was confident in her sexuality it came as no surprise to you, it also came as no surprise that you hid that part of you away for quite a few years before you actually worked up the courage to at least tell those who were the most important to you, which obviously included Alexia.
Safe to say that there was no need for you to actually worry and although it took a few years, the pair of you both admitting your feelings for one another.
That was six years ago and you can safely say that they have been the best six years of your life, sure there had been arguments along the way, but you wouldn't change your life for anything.
You and Alexia had always talked about wanting kids some day, but with both of your careers going so well, neither of you knew when the right time may come, but deep down you knew that you wanted your kids to be able to watch their mums play as they were growing up rather than just hearing stories about your careers. That is what has brought you to where you are now, you and Alexia have just got home from your last match of the season and you decide now is the best time to talk to Alexia.
"Lex, ¿Podemos hablar?" (Can we talk?) You ask your girlfriend.
"Si mi amor, ¿Qué ocurre?" (Yes my love, what's wrong) Alexia responds.
"Creo que es el momento adecuado." (I think it's the right time) You say, hopeful for a positive response.
"¿El momento adecuado para qué, cariño?" (The right time for what darling?) Alexia questions, intriqued.
"Para que podamos formar una familia" (For us to start a family)
"Sabes que quiero esto, pero no puedo detener mi carrera ahora mismo, pero pronto, nena." (You know I want this but I can't stop my career right now, but soon babe)
"Espera, no te lo estoy pidiendo, quiero llevarlo, solo quiero que al menos uno de nuestros hijos crezca viéndonos jugar el deporte que amamos." (Wait, I am not asking you to, I want to carry, I just really want at least one of our kids to grow up actually seeing us playing the sport we love) You say trying to make sure that the conversation doesn't get completely shut down.
"¿En serio? ¿Estás seguro de que quieres hacer esto? Falta mucho tiempo y quiero que estés seguro." (Really? Are you sure you want to do this, it's a very long time out and I want you to be sure) Alexia says, forever being the voice of reason.
"Por supuesto que estoy seguro, no hay nadie más con quien preferiría tener una familia." (Of course I am sure, there is no one else I would rather have a family with) You say, reaching out to grab Alexia's hand and stroke your thumb over her knuckles.
"Ok entonces, esto es, comencemos nuestra familia" (Ok then, this is it, let's start our family) Alexia says, the biggest smile on her face.
You and Alexia share a kiss before starting to look through your options on how to move this decision along.
It has been about six months since that conversation and you still haven't told any of the girls you are pregnant, instead telling them that you had a slight injury and that is why you hadn't been at training or even seen them since you found out that the ivf had worked, however you knew you had to tell them at some point and decided you were going to do it at today's match, you were obviously showing by now so you had to make sure none of the girls saw you until the meeting when Pere would say that Alexia had something special to tell the girls.
"Muy bien, escuchen, hoy es un partido importante, pero todos sabemos que podemos salir y ganar, así que simplemente sigamos el plan de juego y vayamos a otra semifinal de la Liga de Campeones, pero primero, Alexia tiene una gran noticia que contarles" (Right you lot listen up, today is a big game, but we all know that you can go out there and win it so just stick to the game plan and let's get to another champions league semi final, but first, Alexia has some big news to tell you all)
"Sí, gracias Pere, bien chicas, no hay mucho más que decir sobre el juego, pero sí hay algunas noticias importantes que les hemos estado ocultando" (Yes, thank you Pere, right girls not much else to say regarding the game but yes there is some important news that we have been keeping from you) Alexia says as you walk in and look at how shocked most of the girls are.
"Oh Dios mío, sabía que algo más estaba pasando, felicidades chicas, ¿Qué tan avanzado estás?" (Oh my god, I knew something else was up, congrats girls, how far along are you?) Mapi shouts as she practically sprint to come and embrace you in a hug.
"Gracias Mapi, alrededor de seis meses." (Thanks Mapi, around six months)
The rest of the girls conratulate you and then they have to start going out for the match, Alexia being the last one in the changing room with you.
"Buena suerte mi amor" (Good luck my love) You say giving Alexia a kiss on the head, something you had both done for as long as you could remember before a match.
"Gracias cariño," (Thank you darling,) She says before kneeling down and placing a kiss on your bump, "Adiós pequeño, deja de patear a mamá por mí." (Bye little one, stop kicking mummy for me)
"Eres linda Alexia Putellas, ahora vete que te estarán esperando." (You're cute Alexia Putellas, now off you go they'll be waiting for you)
Alexia leaves and then you walk out to sit on the bench with the girls who haven't started. All the girls play really well and the game ends in a 4-0 win for Barca, Alexia scoring 2 of the goals and dedicating it to you and the baby each time. As soon as the final whistle blows and you start to walk on the pitch with the other girls, Alexia runs straight over to you, being overprotective of you as usual.
"¿Estás bien nena?" (Are you okay babe?) She asks, putting an arm around you.
"Soy perfecta Lex, no puedo esperar a que el pequeño te vea jugar tan bien como lo acabas de hacer" (I am perfect Lex, I just can't wait for little one to be watching you play as well as you just did)
"Ahh no fue mi mejor, pero creo que este va a ser tan bueno como su mamá." (Ahh it wasn't my best, but I think this one is going to be just as good as their mummy) Alexia says back to you.
"Eres demasiado modesto Lex, pero vamos, no voy a mentir, me gustaría irme a la cama lo antes posible" (You're too modest Lex, but come on, I'm not going to lie I would like to get to bed as soon as possible) You say, giving Alexia a kiss on the cheek as you start to walk back inside.
Alexia follows you and gets her stuff from the changing room, deciding to just get a shower when you are get home so that you can get to bed quicker, Alexia knowing that it had been a long day for you. when you do get home you pretty much walk straight up the stairs and change into one of Alexia's hoodies and a pair of shorts to sleep in before getting into bed and deciding to read a bit of your book while you wait for Alexia to finish showering, once she has you feel the covers move and Alexia's arms wrap around you, the latter giving you little kisses on your forehead as she lays down.
"Hola tú, linda ducha mi amor?" (Hello you, nice shower my love?) You ask Alexia, opening your eyes after you must have dosed off whilst reading.
"Habría sido mejor si hubieras estado ahí, cariño." (Would have been better if you were there darling) Alexia says, smirking at you.
"Está bien, descarado, por mucho que te ame, me estaba quedando dormido." (Okay cheeky, now as much as I love you, I was just falling asleep)
"Oh, lo siento bebé" (Oh I'm sorry baby)
"No, está bien Lex, ya que eres tú." (No it is ok Lex, as it's you)
After that you both turn your bedside lights off and then you cuddle into Alexia, getting as close as humanly possible to your girlfriend before falling into a very deep sleep.

part of my christmas series. full masterlist here!
in which: christmas eve unexpectedly brings you and alexia the gift of new life
warnings: pregnancy (symptoms), labour (not descriptive at all lol), very fluffy
wc: 4k
a/n: i wasn't too clued up on writing labor, so i didn't. i didn't want to make it unrealistic and i was gonna get mad as hell at myself if i tried and i couldn't get it how i wanted. i hope you enjoy tho!
“Be careful,” Alexia hummed against your lips, giving you another kiss after claiming 4 times that the previous one was the last one. “I will. We will. I promise.” Your fiancée tentatively crouched down and put her hands protectively on the side of your growing bump. “Be nice to mama,” she said softly, her eyes flicking towards yours as she spoke to the little wonder growing inside of your belly. “She’s making sure you’re gonna be all strong and healthy when you’re born in a couple months.” The Spaniard finished with a soft kiss against your belly, hoisting herself back up and tenderly pressing her lips against yours. The last one, she promised, again.
You’d never get used to the sight of Alexia speaking to your bump, speaking to the little life that was growing inside of you and that was going to make you mothers. “Chop, chop. Don’t be late. I love you.” Alexia hummed in mock annoyance, but turned on her heels and stepped towards the front door. “I’ll be back for dinner. I promise.” She blew you one final kiss and then set off to the training grounds.
Ever since you found out you were pregnant, it was like someone flipped a switch within Alexia. She had always been quite protective over you, way more rooted in jealousy than she'd ever like to admit, but since you were carrying her baby, she took it to another level. Not only that, she was also preparing for motherhood like she would prepare for football games. She researched, took classes, watched youtube videos and read articles with great interest and attention, wanting to be as prepared as possible for the day your kiddo would arrive.
Part of Alexia's overprotectiveness was also rooted in the struggle you'd gone through in trying to get pregnant. Your IVF journey hadn't been the kindest on either of you. Failed attempt after failed attempt, you were nearing the brink of giving up, but on your 4th attempt it had finally stuck. You couldn't nearly express the joy that overcame the both of you, the realization dawning on you that you were going to become mothers. Together. A childhood dream that was finally coming into fruition, with the love of your life.
The first couple months, though, were hell. Headaches, dizziness, cramping, food aversions, backaches, nausea, vomiting, swelling, itching – you name it, you had it. It felt like life punching you in the face for having wished so bad to get pregnant, you had to deal with all the consequences now. Still, you took it in your stride as best as you could. You kept going to work for as long as possible (until Alexia could no longer be convinced to allow you to go), you stayed on top of your part of the chores at home, you still went to all of your wife's football games, all whilst trying to get used to and accommodate for the little life that was growing in your belly. Symptoms be damned, you were finally pregnant and you wouldn't let anything ruin your happy, little pregnant bubble.
Now, with the due date nearing, Alexia was very reluctant to leave you for training every day. You assured her time and time again that you were going to be fine, your mum and Eli both had their phones on them at all times for if you were to call with an emergency. A well-packed hospital bag had been sitting by the door since a couple weeks (way too early but you gave in when Alexia had been pacing around the house for the best part of an hour instead of sleeping), so you were good to go to the hospital if necessary. The staff at Barcelona kept Alexia's phone with them at all times, so that a potential call wouldn’t go lost in an empty dressing room.
Christmas was nearing, though, and even though your wife was reluctant to agree, you'd invited Ingrid and Mapi over for a Christmas dinner. You were still a couple weeks from your due date, so you assured her you'd be fine. You opted to stay at home rather than going out, Ingrid and Alexia deciding they would cook the meals for the evening so you could lay back and relax. There were a couple times in the running up to the holidays that Alexia tried to convince you to blow off the plans you'd made, but you insisted you didn't. As much as you couldn't wait to meet the little baby growing in your belly, you didn't want to miss out on your final Christmas Eve with just your fiancée because of her stubborn overprotectiveness.
–
Alexia got up with the reflexes of a cat when the bell rang, glaring down at you as you also tried to get up. You didn't fight back and plopped yourself back down on the couch, too tired and too big a belly to really argue her point. Preparations for tonight hadn't been smooth sailing, in all honesty. You'd been hit quite bad with some of the third trimester symptoms lately, especially the Braxton Hicks had majorly upped in frequency. They were very short, only mildly uncomfortable and infrequent as you started to get them, but now only three weeks from your due date, the tightening sensations in your uterus lasted longer, were more painful and came in a steady frequency.
Your fiancée uncoordinatedly ran around the house all afternoon, trying her best to balance preparations for Christmas Eve and a very pregnant, slightly annoyed girlfriend to the best of her abilities. She managed, though, and you never really doubted that she wouldn't. If you had to describe your lover in one word, it would surely be determined. Whether it came to football, or taking care of you, or arranging your shoes on the shoe rack with meticulous, millimetered precision – she didn't do things half-assed. It was all or nothing for the Spanish midfielder.
The table was set, wine was cooled (lemon water for you, seemingly your latest craving), some preparations for dinner had started, presents were on the coffee table, soft music was playing from the speakers around the apartment, the mood lights were on, Alexia did good. More than good, and it settled half your nerves for the evening. You hated that you couldn't help her, that you were bound to the sofa. But even if she allowed you to help, you would probably not be able to find the energy to get up and run around the place.
You heard some muffled voices coming from the hall, moving to sit slightly more upright, but you got caught out by another Braxton Hick. You winced slightly and rubbed your hand over your swollen bump, closing your eyes and trying to control your breathing.
"Amor, are you okay?" Alexia's worried voice rang through the living room as the three of them entered the living room. You took another deep breath before replying, the contraction easing away as you finally sat up a little more. "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine, Ale. Just another Braxton Hick." You mustered up a small smile, and if Alexia sensed the worry in your expression, she didn't say anything about it. They'd been more frequent than ever before today, and it was worrying you slightly. You tried to push away the thoughts, though, excited to celebrate Christmas Eve with your fiancée and two of your best friends.
The night went on smoothly. Conversation flowed easily, as it always did between the four of you, and Ingrid and Alexia cooked up a delicious meal. The girls each made a dish from their respective home countries, Alexia making Catalan escudella – a meat stew with sausage, and Ingrid made pinnekjøtt, lamb prepared in a way that you tried your best to remember, but couldn't try to remake even if you tried. The table was filled with all kinds of deliciousness, and you felt genuinely happy. The Winter holidays had always been your favorite period of the year, so to be celebrating it with some of the most important people in your life, felt great.
It wasn't until later that evening that you all found yourself on the sofa again and got to opening presents. You all promised one another that you wouldn't go overboard with anything, but no one wanted to come up empty-handed. Mapi gifted you and Alexia a tiny little Barcelona shirt with your fiancée's name on the back, a baby Adidas tracksuit and then also some scented candles and incense sticks for around the apartment. You and Alexia bought Mapi and Ingrid a gift card from this art store they'd been wanting to buy something from the past couple months, and a couple bottles of fine Spanish wine.
The four of you lounged on the sofa, enjoying each other's company as the evening ticked away. You were taking a moment to yourself to appreciate your surroundings; your cozy apartment made even warmer by three of the most important people in your life, with a little baby growing in your belly, that'd been growing safe and healthy inside of you for the past 37 weeks. The warm laughter of your fiancée rang through your place and you felt fuzzy inside, taking a deep breath and enjoying the moment. Your state of bliss got abruptly interrupted, though, by another Braxton Hick. Or so you thought. Your wince didn't go unnoticed by your invitees, their conversation quieting down as they glanced over at you. "All good, baby?" Alexia said softly, as she put a hand on the small of your back.
You were about to tell her you were fine, that it was probably just another practice contraction, until you could feel something warm and wet between your legs. You thought you were imagining things, but it was there. It was definitely there. "Ale," you breathed, trying to compose yourself before you set off the whole house with what you were about to say. "I think my water broke." You opened your eyes just enough to see how Alexia's widened, her mouth opening and closing a couple times, seemingly rooted to her spot on the sofa.
"Joder," she murmured, "you're not due another three weeks!" You winced as another contraction came, doubling over to the best of your abilities with your pregnant bump in the way. "Vale, Alexia, do something!" You heard Ingrid say, ushering your fiancée to stand up and get the hospital bag. "Come here, love, I'll help you stand up and we'll get you to the car." Ingrid's soothing voice grounded you slightly, and you looked up at her with a worried expression. "I'm not due another three weeks," you mumbled. "That's okay. Your baby has been growing fine as it should be, so this won't be a problem. Three weeks isn't all that bad. You'll be fine. But you have to go to the hospital, okay? Take my hand." You did as the Norwegian told and gripped her hand like a vice, not missing the wince shooting across her face but not bothered enough to care. You stood up with Ingrid's aid and looked at the wet spot on the sofa, another confirmation that you really weren't imagining things. Your baby was on its way.
Ingrid led you towards the front door of your apartment while Mapi called the elevator up, the both of them wanting to get you downstairs and in the car as quick as possible. You heard rummaging around behind you, probably Alexia rushing around the place trying to get everything that was necessary.
She had never been as nervous as she was now. Not during Champions League finales, not while taking game-winning penalty kicks, not at the World Cup, no. Nothing would ever compare to the stress she felt right now. The hospital bag that had been sat at the door for weeks seemingly didn't have everything, according to Alexia's thoughts (it definitely had way more than necessary, but you didn't have the heart to tell her that), so she haphazardly threw in some more stuff that she could find around the house. Why you'd need a cutting board, she doesn't know. She still threw it in there. A mop? Probably handy for something, no? She threw the door to your apartment closed behind her and rushed downstairs, Ingrid and Mapi already helping you in the car as she threw the bag in the trunk and rushed over to the driver side.
"Stay with her, Ingrid," Alexia said. "Hold her hand in the back seat, por favor." Your fiancée's voice was laced with worry, but you couldn't find it in you to try and console her. You knew she didn't have to rush like was doing right now, it was going to be hours before you'd actually go into labor, but the contractions were getting more frequent and were definitely getting more painful, leaving you speechless and crushing Ingrid's hand. Mapi sat next to Alexia in the passenger seat and you were slowly realizing that probably wasn't the best of ideas, the two women both as nervous as each other and not helping one another in the slightest at calming down.
The ride to the hospital was less than smooth, and you could hear Ingrid scolding Alexia every couple minutes for her driving. She was speeding, definitely also crossed a red light, traffic fines be damned. You arrived in 12 minutes, 5 minutes less than it'd took the last time you practiced the drive to the hospital. Alexia stepped out of her driver seat and rushed to the other side of the car, helping Ingrid with getting you out of the backseat of her car. "Lean on me, amor, it's not far, okay?" You were relatively sure you would be able to keep yourself standing, but the idea of leaning your body weight into your fiancée was to enticing to turn down.
Once you were inside and registered, everything went by in a flurry. You were led to a room where you'd have to wait until you had enough dilation to actually go into labour. You went from contraction to contraction, each one getting worse than the other, up to the point where you felt like you had to get your baby out. They had completely dropped, and you could feel them pushing against your underside. The waiting felt endless, and you felt like an eternity went by until you were finally cleared to go into labour. It had been an eternity to be fair, having had to wait the best part of 5 hours.
Alexia stayed with you during labour, whispering words of affirmation and motivation in your ear whilst you worked your way through birthing your baby. It was rough, painful, hard, it was ugly. You screamed, cried, yelled, you got angry, but it was all for a good cause. You were pretty sure that you bruised Alexia's hand as you held it through it all, but not a fiber in your body could be bothered with anything but pushing the human past your lips out of your belly into the world.
At 4:03am, you finally did it. You felt like a massive weight had been lifted off your shoulders. You had successfully birthed your little baby, and they were healthy. Alexia got to cut the umbilical cord, something she felt quite apprehensive about, but an experience she wouldn't want to trade for the world. "Mi amor, you did it, look at him." Alexia leaned her forehead against yours as the nurses were cleaning up your son, preparing him for some skin-to-skin contact in a couple moments. You closed your eyes and breathed her in, a small smile forming on your lips despite the heavy exhaustion that rested on your limbs. "Sorry about your hand," you whispered. "No sorry. I'll let you bruise my hand a thousand times if that means we get to have a healthy son."
You felt an overwhelming sense of gratification and love as Alexia pressed a tender kiss against your forehead. You stayed like that for a couple moments, until the nurses finished cleaning up your son and waddling him in a little blanket. Now came a time what they called the golden hour, a critical moment for the newborn and their mother to bond. Your son was softly placed on your chest, your hands being guided to support him and his head appropriately. He stirred a little, but seemed to find a comfortable position to rest in, and seemed to fall asleep quite quickly. You felt tears well up in your eyes at the perfect sight in front of you. Finally, after trying for so long, you had a perfectly healthy baby laying on your bare chest. It was yours. Yours and Alexia's.
You cradled his head and kept him close to you while he slept, your fingers trailing across his tiny body. "He's so small," you whispered. You looked up at Alexia when you didn't get a response, noticing her sitting on the chair next to your bed, with unshed tears in her eyes. "Oh, baby," you cooed, holding out your unoccupied hand for her to take. She intertwined her fingers with yours and brought your hand up to her lips, pressing a gentle kiss against it. "You did it," she mumbled, repeating the same words from before. You chuckled. "Yeah, I did," you spoke softly. You stayed in silence for some time until your son started to stir a little. The nurses had said that he'd probably not be able to sleep for too long before he'd have to eat.
"I think he's hungry, Ale." The brunette perked up and stood from the chair, accompanying you by the side of the bed. "Want me to call a nurse? Or will you manage yourself?" You contemplated the options. "You should call a nurse. Just to be sure." It didn't take long for someone to arrive in the room, and she assured you that you did the right thing by calling someone over. With the help of the nurse you unbuttoned the hospital robe further and helped your son settle against your exposed breast, guiding his head to your nipple. He latched on immediately, and an unfamiliar feeling overcame you as you felt his little mouth sucking on your nipple. "Are you okay, bebé?" You nodded, relaxing a little deeper into the bed and holding your son tight against you so he could nurse. Alexia watched on in awe as you fed your newborn baby. She was amazed by everything that was happening, by her child, by you. More tears welled up in her eyes as she watched you nurse him, feeling overwhelmed by the love for her newfound family. She cupped the back of your head with her hand and guided your face towards hers, locking gazes. "You're incredible. Te amo." You smiled brightly at your fiancée and responded, "I love you so much."
The rest of the night went on smoothly, and by the time the clock hit 5:30 you were all settled again. Your son had nursed perfectly, settling some of the nerves you'd had around the whole feeding process. The nurse assured that everything was fine with him, and also gave the okay to Alexia to take him from you if she wanted to. She hesitated, worried that she in some way would break him if she took him away from your chest. "Bebé, what if I drop him?" You withheld a chuckle, quickly realizing that she was being way more serious than you thought she was. "Alexia, you won't drop him. I promise you. You're going to do so good." You tried to reassure her, but her eyes were still laced with worry as she leaned over to you. You let her take him from you, guiding her hands and arms to support his body and his head appropriately, and then she was holding him. She was holding him. In her arms. He slightly stirred, both you and Alexia holding your breath as he let out a little cry, but he quickly settled against her chest, breathing out a deep sigh.
You stared at the scene in front of you like a lovesick puppy, and you weren't sure anything in your life would ever top the way you felt right now. In front of you was your fiancée, soon-to-be wife, who was holding your son, your little wonder that you had the privilege of carrying for the past 37 weeks. In this moment, you couldn't imagine that you ever even contemplated giving up on your IVF journey. Then you wouldn't have had the pleasure to extend your family of 2 into a very happy family of 3. "He's so perfect," Alexia whispered, carefully not to wake up your son. She softly traced a finger over his face, his tiny nose, down to his tummy. "So small." She continued her path down to his legs and then his sock-covered feet, admiring the way they both fit right into her hand.
"Want me to call the girls over?" You questioned softly, not wanting to ruin the moment, but Alexia had told you earlier that Mapi and Ingrid were still waiting in the waiting room and you didn't want to hold them from any sleep any longer than you had to. They were professional athletes at last, and even though they were on a break, it wasn't the best for them to be out of their sleep rhythm for this long. "Sí, you can call them." You did, and it didn't take much longer than a minute for the two girls to enter your room.
You met their gazes and noticed how tears welled up in both their eyes, seeing their ever so stern captain holding her son with so much love and adoration in her eyes. "Dios mío, es tan pequeño," Mapi whispered, slowly inching closer to where Alexia was stood, close to your bed. You could see the tiredness etched across their face, but neither Mapi nor Ingrid would've missed this moment for a lifetime. "What's his name?" Ingrid asked, her gaze pointed towards you. "James."
You and Alexia had disagreed on everything until you found the name you eventually agreed on. She didn't like what you liked, and you didn't like what she liked. But when you stumbled across James, a Hebrew name with Greek roots, the equivalent of Jaume, your minds were made up.
"James", Mapi whispered, leaning over your son and softly tracing along his nose with your finger. "He's perfect, wow. Congratulations to both of you. You're going to be amazing parents."
You soaked up the love from the moment. The clock was nearing 6 now, and you were beyond exhausted, but the sight of your fiancée cradling your son close to her chest is what kept you going. Your little Christmas miracle. You wouldn't change it for the world.

You had been having your best season for Barca yet, and already adding onto the growing list of stats with two assists this match.
While you loved assisting your teammates, you really wanted to score one yourself today. One more goal and you would be the league's all-time top scorer.
Both your girlfriends had mentioned before the match that they felt like this could be the one. With Ingrid quickly adding, “No pressure to, of course.” to which Mapi quickly agreed.
They were always so supportive of your achievements, and you couldn't wait until you would be able to celebrate this one with them.
Then in the thirtieth minute it was time for a Barcelona corner. One look from Mapi, while she walked over to take it, said enough for you to know exactly what she was planning to do.
Sure enough, Mapi crossed in the ball right in front of you. All you had to do was win the header from your opponent.
While jumping up, you managed to create enough space between you and the defender. You headed the ball towards the far corner, watching it fly past the keeper in slow motion, not registering that you'd scored until the stadium erupted in cheers.
You ran straight to Mapi and jumped into her arms, the rest of the team jumping in on the celebration. A new record to your name, assisted by your girlfriend, how could your season get any better?
When everyone stepped out of the celebratory huddle, Ingrid was waiting for her own hug. “I am so proud of you.” She whispered into your ear as she spun you around.
You were on a high, 3-0 ahead, two assists, and a goal that made you break the record for all-time top scorer. Nothing could stop the excitement from this game. With your heart still pounding from the goal, you felt unstoppable.
Ten minutes later, you were rushing forwards to the goal once more. Only this time you had defenders running at you from all sides. Your teammates were trying to find positions for you to pass the ball to them, but each time they tried, they were shut down again.
So, you had to try to go through them yourself. You managed to get past one of the defenders, and tried running the ball around them, but they effectively tackled you. Only for the other defender that was rushing in to step onto your ankle after not being able to stop her run in time.
You didn't know exactly what happened, one moment you were tackled and the next moment you were screaming out in pain.
Tears were streaming down your face. You had never felt such pain before, you wanted to move but everything hurt.
The next thing you noticed was Alexia sitting by your side, her eyes filled with worry as she was trying her best to comfort you.
Her lips were moving but you didn't hear what she was saying. She wiped the tears from your face with one hand and with her other hand she held yours.
Then finally there was noise again. “You're okay. Just breathe.” You blinked up at her confused. Why did Alexia have Mapi's voice?
It must be because you were totally out of it from the pain. Then the medical team showed up, “Shh, we've got you.” You looked confused again, why did he sound like Ingrid?
Then it hit you, this was a nightmare.
You fought to open your eyes, desperately wanting to wake from this horrible nightmare that is making you experience your injury all over again.
When you finally manage to wake you, you sit right up. Your breathing heavy and the tears you were crying in your sleeping state rolling down your cheeks in the real world too. The room around you was dark, and it took you a moment to realise where you were, but then you saw Mapi and Ingrid and it all started to make sense. It was the two of them talking, trying to get you to wake up.
“It’s okay, you’re okay.” Ingrid says as you lean into her side. Her arms instantly wrap around you. She nudged Mapi, who pressed a quick kiss to your head before getting up and leaving the room.
“It’s alright baby, let it all out.” She whispered as she held you tight, while rubbing slow, soothing circles on your back as you tried to steady your breathing. Your heart was still racing, the phantom pain of the injury lingering, but you were okay. You were in the safety of your home, in your bed, not on the pitch.
Ingrid’s quiet hums of comfort and your shaky breaths were the only sounds in the room until Mapi walked back in with a glass of water for you. “Here, amor.” She said handing you the glass before sitting down on the bed with you two again.
You take a few sips before you hand the glass back to Mapi, who places it on the nightstand. “Nightmares again?" She asks while placing her hand on your leg, wanting to offer you some extra comfort.
After taking a deep breath, you nodded. “Yeah, it was about my injury. I was reliving it again. It felt so real,” you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper. “Like I was back there. The pain, the fear… everything.”
Mapi looked down at your ankle, the light scar showing the surgery you underwent in order to heal your broken ankle. But she knew that some scars aren’t visible, and sometimes those are the hardest parts of an injury to heal. She looked back at your face, and her heart broke a little at how much the mental side of your injury was still taking a toll on you.
“I’m sorry the nightmares keep coming, amor.” She moved up the bed and laid down on her back with her arms open, “Come here.” Ingrid presses a kiss to your temple before gently unwrapping her arms from around you, giving you space to settle into Mapi’s embrace. Quickly following herself once you were comfortable, holding you from the other side.
Laying in their arms felt safe. Mapi’s fingers slowly tracing patterns on your arm, and Ingrid pressing soft kisses onto your back. In their arms you started to relax more, almost forgetting about the nightmare all together.
“We’ve got you.” Ingrid said between kisses, and you believed it. With them you felt comfortable and safe. It didn’t take long before you found sleep in their comforting hold. This time without the nightmares that had been haunting your dreams.
