Bard! Hunter vs. The False GG

Hey all! I commissioned the fabulous @smallpapers to depict one of my favorite interactions from an earlier SCOM chapter!

The False Golden Guard arc has lasted WAY longer than I had initially planned -- but I promise we will figure out their identity! They are just a devious little bastard who likes to torture Hunter (and me).

Anyway, ENJOY.

Bard Hunter idea where one of the Hexsquad asks him if he knows any songs and he starts playing this. (I love her voice.)

Everyone is left in varying states of discomfort.

I just feel like he knows a lot of those weird evangelical christian songs and doesn't entirely realize why everyone else is so unsettled.

Still recovering from writing that one! I was quite happy with how it came out!

Don't spoil anything in comments, but I'm happy to answer asks about it -- as long as the spoilers for the rest of SCOM don't go TOO deep.

Needless to say, this reveal has been building up FOR A VERY LONG TIME.

For those who read it, did you see the identity of the Fake GG coming?

Had you guessed it correctly?

Yes! So proud of myself.

No! That threw me for a loop.

It crossed my mind a few times, but I wasn't sure.

SCOM NEXT CHAPTER PREVIEW:

Hunter wanted to do something good, but unfortunately he's a perennial target.

After a day of playing barista while raising money for sigil removal research, he has one bad customer.

Edric and Josh have ... concerns.

Flapjack began to flutter in his chest, as Hunter felt his body begin to glow. Hunter placed his glyph on the ground. His hand hovered over the middle.

“DON’T YOU DARE!” Edric gasped from a few feet away. He pointed at Hunter’s glyph shaking his head furiously. “DON”T.”

“What?” Hunter turned to meet Ed’s eye. “Why not?” He spun his head around to see Josh waving his hands around furiously.

Josh shook his shaggy head, the Guinea Pig Palisman still on top. 

“Man!” Josh said. “This place doesn’t have an insurance policy that covers damage by… YOU!”

SCOM Next Chapter Preview.

“I SAID GET UP!” The Guard’s voice took on another tone. It still held authority but for just a second it sounded almost shrill. “ARE YOU STUPID, GRIMWALKER? FOR THE THIRD TIME! GET. UP.”

“Technically, that was the fourth time?” The quip slipped easily from Hunter’s mouth.

Micro Writing Notes: Raine and Hunter

I truly love writing their friendship, and I think I had mentioned in a recent ask that they will have some more scenes together in Act 3.

As I plot the next chapter I am listening to a few songs ... also revisiting some from older chapters.

I recently settled on "Free Will" by Rush, which was kind of a pivotal scene in their relationship.

The lyrics are so very Hunter's life that it makes me nostalgic for the earlier chapters when I was building their earlier interactions through flashbacks. Also, I kind of think Hunter would nail the energy of Lee's singing voice.

Ugh.

Now I know it's just a matter of time before my insta-play on Apple Music directs me to a T*d N*gent song. BARF.
