#I'm still riding from the high from finding like half of these books like #there were so many there on my list and there was still so much i hadnt gotten to look at yet #I'm going to be unstoppable the next time i go there #i literally silent screamed when i found all the Chamberlain books esp the Fanny and Joshua one after what happened when i tried to order it #and the one about the 54th!!!!! god i was so excited bc i didnt know emilio wrote a book!!!!!!#i remember the thing about the grant and sherman book being something quicksiluers and tipsywench recommended and I'm so excited for that #and the McClellan book I'm v excited abt bc of Saucy and thats their guy and i also had to grab the iron brigade one just bc #but i saw there was several biographies of sherman and sheridan that I'm going to have to look for when i go back #i had to make myseld stop at some point today tho lmao #god I'm so freaking excited #bard rambles #OH AND HOW CAN I FORGET PORTER #i love reading his stories about grant and i cant wait to get into that

Thinking about this CDV I bought while in Fredericksburg for no other reason than bc he looked a bit like Chamberlain and threw me off guard when I first saw him

Telling people my plans about wanting to become a history teacher and being hit with comments like "You're insane" and "Really?" And "It's not worth it anymore" has been giving me flashbacks to when I was first met with those reactions a couple years back and allowed them to break down my confidence and convince me to look for some other career path

And while that stuff does still have a bite to it, I've found my passion for history and sharing it with others is much stronger than their condescending or discouraging remarks. Screw them, basically. I don't expect what I'm wanting to do to be easy, and if this is insanity and not worth my time then I'd hate to see their idea of something respectable and worthwhile. I've still got a lot of road to cover before I get where I want to be, but I'm getting closer everyday.

I spent the day yesterday in Greeneville, TN checking out the Andrew Johnson site! It was very interesting, the house was very pretty, and I learned quite a bit.

#bard rambles #personal #i took a lot of photos of inside the house too!!#i didn't stay for very long to check out the town bc i kinda.... didn't tell a single soul what i was doing #and its a two hour drive from my house and i was trying to beat my parents before they got home #they still don't know sksksk #but i went by myself bc i couldnt convince any of my family to come with me and i hope i can drag one of them or a friend there soon #bc I'd love to go back and look around some more #fuck andrew johnson but it was a very interesting tour and i know the NPS has to portray him in a fairly neutral light #i think that was a nice way to spend surrender day since i couldn't just yeet myself to Virginia #here's hoping i can check out more civil war related sites around TN soon!!
