Hi it's me Chamberlain anon, thank you for your response, very interesting, I will probably watch Gettysburg (1993) now. As for how I got in your house... I'm not really sure myself, I just kinda show up places, I am a MASH enjoyer so maybe that explains it.
OMG Hi again anon!!!
First let me be very clear that you're welcome always in my house, I was just surprised to have company!! I'll make cookies next time!
Second omg you like MASH. If you ever wanna talk in dms please don't ever hesitate I'd love to chat more with you about the Chamberlains and/or MASH.
Third!!! Okay so let me prepare you- Gettysburg is a very long movie. Like over 4 hours. And it's very 90s in some ways andddd a number of historians have some valid gripes about it. Because the thing about Gettysburg is- it's an adaptation of "The Killer Angels" novel, and it's an incredibly faithful adaptation of that novel (you could genuinely follow along with the book), but it's an ultimately a fictitious portrayal of the battle of Gettysburg. I do believe that the people involved in the making of the movie did their best to make as much they could as historically accurate as possible (and can be quite dry and slow in places to try and achieve that), but there's a lot that gets glossed over. And I mean a lot, more than I can fit in one text post a lot.
(Putting another read more because this is getting long, but I won't keep you too long I promise.)
I wonder how strange I look to the ... one or two Mainers I know within the MASH fandom that follow me.... hi guys I'm a big fan of your former governor
I'm still thinking about that Chamberlain anon ask..... who was that masked man..... how did they find me after years of mashposting.... how'd they get in my house.... come back to me, whoever you are
dear young/new/insecure/unsure/hurt/just plain bummed writers and artists: fanfiction and fanart isn’t a competition. your voice and words and your creations have inherent value regardless of your level of skill. art is art. don’t be discouraged please. keep writing, keep creating, keep posting, keep being unapologetically you
okay judgemental free zone here because I’m genuinely curious: how much of supernatural have y'all ACTUALLY watched
Bard, can you (or anyone) explain why the Chamberlains are so beloved on this here hellsite? I'm fascinated, not critical, and eager to better understand the world.
Hey! That's a great question, and I'll admit I've not been posting much on historyblr for a while so I may not be the most qualified with regards to the current metrics of people posting about the Chamberlains, but I'll do my best to answer!
The short answer is I think it's mostly because of the movie "Gettysburg" alongside the Michael and Jeff Shaara civil war trilogy. That's how I was introduced to Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, myself, and while neither the movie nor "The Killer Angels" were featured in my school's curriculum, I understand that some APUSH classes still read the book and/or watch the movie.
(Longer answer below)
As far as why the Chamberlains, which I'm realizing now is probably what you actually meant, well.... following through with the Gettyburg movie/Shaara trilogy theory- and forgive me, but I'm obviously biased- I feel like Lawrence and Tom are two of the most likeable characters in the movie (and that along with Hancock and Armistead, Chamberlain has one of the more compelling story arcs imo) and that they also rank pretty highly in likeability in the novels as well.
ample time? no no no you misheard me. i said apple time. 🍎🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏🍎🍏🍏🍏🍏🍎🍏🍏🍎🍏🍎🍎🍏🍎🍏🍏🍏🍎🍏🍏🍏🍎🍏🍏🍏🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎🍏🍏🍏🍎🍎🍎🍏🍎🍏🍏🍎🍏🍏🍎🍎🍏🍎🍎🍎🍎🍎
