Read the story!
Do you have links to any of the archives of X-Files meta? I'd love to read it!
I haven’t got a lot, but I’ll share what I have, and tag some philes who’ve been in the fandom longer than I have to see if they have anything more to recommend. (I’m looking at you, wendelah!)
The Cave’s X-Files Commentary Archive is a great collection of meta from back in the day. To quote the intro to the archive,
Plot and theme and characterization, oh my! For a number of years the Cave’s message boards served as ‘a hotbed for intelligent discussion’. We were an eclectic group of story enthusiasts from all walks of life: librarians, biologists, teachers, attorneys, university administrators, journalists, code writers, students and others. Though the show’s run is over, you’ll find thoughtful, perceptive insights on the show and its characters in the archived posts and discussions below.
Much of the meta in this archive was written by site owner and archivist bardsmaid (aka LoneThinker), a talented, insightful, and much-loved member of the X-Files fan community who sadly passed away earlier this year.
You also might enjoy checking out Sarah Stegall’s episode reviews, which are thoughtful, critical, and informed; they were written as the series aired, and are weighted heavily toward the first four seasons. Archived at http://www.munchkyn.com/xf-rvws/x-files.html.
