Yeah I don't watch the show but my impression was that it was nearly as bad as the recent Destiel meltdown & shipper exodus.

Ha, which Destiel meltdown? The JIB one or the one from last Fall? (just kidding I'd rather not think about it.) But anyway, I feel their pain if that is the reason.

I did hear about that, and there were some other canon things that seemed to confirm his heterosexuality? I could be making that up though.

So...holy shit, I think Robbie Thompson just left the ending of SPN vague enough that it's entirely possible great chunks of S9 was in fact, shitty Metatron fanfic.

Like, it wasn't directly stated, but there was a heavy implication that Metatron was controlling certain characters behavior.

Detailed spoilers and messy ramblings beneath the cut.

Okay, so a chunk of the episode was canonically Metatron fanfic. His canon 'fanfic' was described as having continuity errors (which Metatron hates), it had some kind of...off characterization of Gabriel (like he was TOO Gabriel, if you know what I mean), he directly called it 'retconning' when he fucked with Cas's memory. Metatron erased words (angels sigils, and threw a Supernatural book into the fire, I didn't catch which one).

The purpose of the 'fanfic' was to goad Cas into a decision (become a leader of angels). Cas repeatedly said he was not a leader, didn't want to be a leader, and so forth. Metatron tells him flat out he has to become a leader, because Metatron is writing the story and that's what Metatron wants. Metatron says doing so will get all the dumb angels killed, but Cas will have a seat in Heaven. Metatron But right at the end, for no visible reason, Cas decides he's gonna become a leader, sends out an angelic bat-signal, and he does this while Metatron is excitedly typing up his 'script' of Cas deciding to do just that. Implying Metatron can and does control people in the Real World.

And this was all prefaced with convo with Gadreel about how a writer doesn't always mind HOW he gets to his ending, just that he gets there. Which is exactly what happened with Metatron and Cas deciding to become a leader.

I mean, I would have loved to have it explicit and without a doubt. BUT I think Robbie left it vague on purpose, and it's possible this may have been Robbie being subversive without being obvious about it. Because he made it actually possible that everything everyone hates about Season 9 is just Metatron's shitty fanfic. Which is something I suggested half as a joke to xceteras months  ago because I couldn't deal with how shitty the season was (and I sent it on anon at first, because I was too shy to talk to her blog-to-blog, because I am a giant dork).

The possibility is definitely there (it's not just a joke anymore), which I appreciate.

AND IT WAS A REALLY GOOD AND ENTERTAINING EPISODE, WHICH I DIDN'T THINK SUPERNATURAL WAS CAPABLE OF ANYMORE.

I want to hike the whole of the Pacific Crest Trail, roughly 2,400 mile long trail that goes from Mexico to Canada.  Or at least hike part of it.

6. When was the last time you were terribly excited about something?

I traveled to Bali in 2012 and was so excited I wanted to throw up.  I've been very excited and also somewhat excited since then ;)

I'd pay off my debt and my parent's houses and the lot.  Then I'd travel the world.  I'd also like to sail to the South Pacific

I don’t know what post you’re referring to, but he talked at a con about self harm when he was a kid, I think. Not necessarily depression related, but maybe that’s where it started. Don’t know about anything as an adult though.

I've lost it on my dash, but it was going around earlier. Yes, I remember the self-harm thing, but as you say, he never said anything about depression. I mean it might have been, but I hate when people jump to conclusions, y'know?

Thought you might be interested to know that on Sleepy Hollow tonight they introduced a new character (Orlando Jones's character's daughter) who is a teenage girl with a wheelchair. And the best part is that (at least so far) her drama had nothing to do with that - just typical divorced parents/teen kid conflict. Representation in a fantasy show on broadcast tv!

Oh my gosh! Really?! And I missed the show! I will have to catch up on hulu or something. I got caught up in writing this weekend and didn’t watch any television.

A character with a disability is such great news for me. I almost never see anyone in a wheelchair like me in the media. Sleepy Hollow is scoring so many brownie points with me lately.

Jim Michaels of Supernatural did take my suggestion for a character with a disability. However, the fact that I have to point out the lack of representation before anyone on television even recognizes the holes left by minorities simply means there’s still a lot of work to do. Just because he acknowledged my suggestion doesn’t mean we’ll actually see more diversity on Supernatural anytime soon. Our show likes people to be “pretty”, able-bodied, generally white, and largely heterosexual.

But Sleepy Hollow with a character in a wheelchair? I’m jumping up and down here! I should start being an actress just to fight for more diversity in the media!
