Am I the only one bothered by the Facebook trend "bare-face nomination"?

I by no means have or had cancer.

I, however, have to deal with the consequences of small doses (I repeat: small doses, not the huge ones, just imagine) of chemotherapy. That includes having red scars all over my face who looks like acne leftovers.

None of the girl I saw on Facebook had those. Sure, it's easy, when your skin is crystal-clear perfect. You'll never have to cover your face in shame with makeup, with the stragling fear of people judging you without knowing your story.

If you found it hard to put a selfie without makeup on Facebook, you have it easy.

I'm pretty without makeup you say? Sure, alright. But you've never been in my shoes, where just going to the grocery store bare-faced, people judging you with whispers such as "She should've put makeup", makes you feel uglier than ever.

I'll never have a pretty face like you.

Also, the feminist in me believes that goig bare-faced shouldn't be an issue or a big deal. But it is. I shouldn't have to cover my face with makeup, just because people, society finds me ugly without it.

You shouldn't be congratulated on taking a bare-faced selfie. You should be congratulated on who you are, and maybe, if you haven't forgotten the purpose of this whole trend, for donating your time, your money and your happiness for the cause of Breast Cancer Awarness.

My opinions on the "no make up selfie"

So as you probably know, lots of people are doing the no make up selfie for cancer research, and I wanted to share my opinion.

Firstly, your only doing help if you send the text, by taking a selfie, you are Not helping them get closer to the cure for cancer, but this also means, you could just text them, and not bother with a selfie.

But then everyone gets annoyed, your being a spoil sport, not taking part.

I think if someone doesn’t feel comfortable uploading a bare face “selfie” you shouldn’t push them to it. Some of us have reasons we cover our face, and even if someone didn’t, making them show something they are not comfortable showing isn’t fair, people wouldnt (mostly) post pictures of there vaginas or dicks all over social media for charity, so why make someone post anything they don’t feel comfortable doing.

When I was in primary school I had sever eczema, everywhere, I was bullied for years and avoided because people thought I was contagious. I hated it all, but was too young for make up.

My skin is better (thank you steroids) but I still have patches, mainly on my face, and since starting azathioprine I have skin discolouration, not a listed side affect and apparently is very uncommon. Basically my face is pretty flakey in places, and even when it’s smooth, it’s a mixture of white blue pink red and yellow. I never leave the house without Make up on, because it terrifies me, the thought of being pushed away again because I look different.

No matter what you told me, nothing can change my view on how I look. I am genuinely scared of showing my natural face, and I will never again post a bare face selfie.

(Before anyone says anything, I have posted selfies on here claiming to be wearing no make up, but I am always wearing the thinnest coat of it, even if the rest of my face is bare.)
