Ass to grass, bare foot, pause squats
So, last night was my 4th day on the Hepburn method. I have been deadlifting and squatting with only 2 day breaks in between sessions and with my work schedule being so hectic I was fucking bolloxed last night, I thought the session before last night was a grinder!
This was my workout,
Squat Stretch
00:00:30
00:00:20
Push-Up
10 reps
10 reps
10 reps
10 reps
10 reps
Body Weight Lunge
12 reps
Barbell Squat
80 kg x 5 reps
85 kg x 5 reps
90 kg x 5 reps
105 kg x 3 reps
105 kg x 3 reps
105 kg x 3 reps
105 kg x 2 reps
105 kg x 2 reps
105 kg x 2 reps
105 kg x 2 reps
105 kg x 2 reps
80 kg x 7 reps
80 kg x 7 repsI
For my last set of 60%s(80Kg) I was really fatigued. I actually got to 4 reps and re racked the bar, walked away and then in almost disgust with myself I went back over to complete my reps. It was tough and I felt like I was going to topple over while I was in the hole but I pushed through.
You see lately all my squatting has been paused, ass to grass. When I enter the hole, I stay there for at least 3 seconds. This is to try to negate any of the elastic energy of my legs and to recruit more muscle fibres to blast back up.
This takes a lot of energy out of me as the squats are really as low as I can go and the pause... Oh the pause.
Last night started off fine, first 3 sets felt great, the triples for 80%(105Kg) at the start of the doubles for 60%... Things started to go wrong, I felt that I had to really concentrate on form and force my body into the correct position and keep it there.
When I re racked the bar I was ashamed and thought about missing my reps, why was I quitting, in this case it seemed like my body was giving up before my mind but I pushed on and made my mind force my body. I pushed it to get the reps and after that I felt at least satisfied if not happy.
