do you ever just think about all the things leela began noticing about fry after lars died? all the connections that were there since she met lars, staring her blank in the face and yet she was blind. it was in that sweet, goofy smile, in the years-faded scars, in those soft eyes, in those gentle hands and in every tender gesture. lars fought to suppress what of him was fry and yet fry is what drew her to him. and after years of looking back, they’ve blurred into one and when she remembers lars, it’s just fry she sees
i’m trying to think more through Bender’s timeline right now. so here’s things that have happened
- Bender overclocked himself, died, and when he came back he immediately goes to the past (green light)
- Bender changed the coordinates for the hover van to Erosh
- Bender goes to Erosh, hangs out there for a while and is now taking Fry back home
- Bender (beat up and rusted) meets Leela, gives her a “hug” (which he’s in denial about 🤔) but says he’s not there for her (I’m assuming it’s Skreem in this case?)
- Bender takes Skreem to the future briefly to show her what will happen, takes her back and let’s her decide if she will help.
- She agrees so her and Bender travel a year in the future, do some things and then seem to subsequently go further in the future (but we don’t know what yet)
so where do all these fit in? part of me is thinking Erosh happens first since it might make sense for bender to be beaten up after all that. and if it’s not first, where is Skreem? She seemed to think her trip to the future is one-way, why? In BBS, travel to the past is one-way, but Bender can travel both ways now.
And since it’s time travel, really they should be able to return to the moment they left, right? But after Bender left, he hasn’t shown up again (and I imagine they won’t see him again until he’s back with Fry. which will also confuse the hell out of everybody I’m sure)
But this still leaves up the question, where is Skreem? I just want to refuse to believe she will die.
Maybe the trip has to be one way to avoid duplicates. Skreem disappears in present day and basically skips forward in time. If she comes back, then there are two Skreems in the same time period and that can’t be. But also the future she’s seeing is one they’re trying to avoid? I don’t know. Time travel is confusing 😂
I hope seeing Bender more in the upcoming chapters will help piece together more of what he’s been up to. Shut In mentioned in reply to my review on a previous chapter that while it’s still a bit until we will officially see Skreem and Bender again, we may get some hints as to what they up to. I’m keeping my eyes out 👀👀
