Task 7 — Back to the Future Thread
The Lightfoots make the movie to Swynlake.
The backseat of the car felt too big, too strange because people drove on the opposite side of the road and the street signs looked funny and it was just...too much. The plane ride, the train after, finally the car; and before all of that the conversations, the plans and the last day at home when he'd mostly just sat on the roof outside his bedroom window and watched people pack up his whole life to take somewhere else.
Somewhere so far away.
He'd always wanted to get away from some people back home but.. he wanted it a whole lot less sitting there staring out that window as the houses and unfamiliar buildings passed.
Ian toyed with his seat belt a little, not sure what else to do with his hands, and swung his legs some; trying not to think too much about how he wasn't even sure what to do there because he had to meet new people and live in a new house. He didn't want those things, especially not at almost eight when everything was already always moving so fast.
His mom was talking to the person driving and Barley didn't seem too bothered by the changes but it was Barley and nothing ever bothered him.
"How are we supposed to know where anything is?" He wondered; nothing was the same at all as back home and that was worrisome. Beyond that window the sun was shining but it wasn't the warm spring weather he was accustomed to; everything had a hint of gray overcast and the air was damp like it was going to rain; prompting Ian to peer up at the clouds through the glass but it had been cloudy everywhere since they'd gotten off the plane. No rain, just that terribly dreary feeling.
