Excursion part 2 Lovely snowy woods along the MassPike. Some building along the walk through Boston, including a store that sold 3D printers, which were all printing things for display-- fascinating to watch. We met at 3pm at BarLola. The rooms were sunk underground and very dark with red lighting. Which at first seemed a little creepy, but then it was very relaxing and allowed some privacy to conversations despite being in a large group. It was a wonderful experience talking with friends in English and Spanish for two and a half hours among rambunctious professors and T.A.s and a steady supply of delicious snacks. Eventually excited whispers of "postres!" spread throughout the room as the flan made its way through the crowd to our altar-like serving table. Great conversation in the bus on the way back about philosophy of language and cultural differences between Germany, Spain, and the United States, as well as general silliness that set in with lack of sleep. This trip was probably the highlight of my semester! Very grateful to the Amherst College Spanish Department for organizing such an experience.
