she mirrors him perfectly, sliding onto the floor just as he does, smoothing her skirt down to make sure everything is in place as she sits. “i’m not being dramatic! that’s a thing. running out of oxygen is a thing.” at least, she’s fairly certain she didn’t make it up. she can’t exactly google it; her phone is dead. she thinks this might be what the middle ages were like…or, at least, the 90′s. “ya chai.” a pause. “you’re barney, right? i think i’ve heard some of your…guests…call you that.” she smiles coyly, raising her eyebrows.
yeah, no shit it’s a thing. he doesn’t say that. instead barney focuses on her name. “ya chai.” he repeats perfectly. “i am. yes.” barney had been throwing more parties than usual these days. a direct result of all the new music he had been putting out. parties were not only excuses to get drunk and hang out with friends but to play his music as well. “are you a fan of parties?” he asks, rather than apologize. “you should come to them some time. meet some new faces or whatever.”
