Louis and Lewis did hang out together! My boyfriend and I arrived just a little before they went away and saw them laughing and chatting :)
Awwww! I love that they were together. They seem like they would get on so well. Lewis is fucking hilarious. I want to hang out with them, too! I'm jealous. LOL!

Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis being interviewed as hosts of the 1951 Mickey Awards at Barney’s Beanery.
Beans! January 6th is National Bean Day. The roots of this unofficial holiday are officially murky; many unsourced internet sources attribute the holiday’s origins to Paula Bowen, the daughter of a pinto bean farmer, who chose the date to commemorate the death of the geneticist Gregor Mendel, who died on this day in 1884.
Issues of Elmira, N.Y.’s Star Gazette (January 19, 1954) and The Winona, Minnesota Daily News (March 22, 1954), however, associate the push for the holiday with Chet Swital, an advertising and public relations representative for Barney’s Beanery in Hollywood, California, who contacted the newspapers in the hopes that they would urge their readers to write to their congressional representatives and President Eisenhower asking that the holiday be officially recognized by the U.S. government.
Two Los Angeles institutions are represented here:
Barney’s Beanery -- A West Los Angeles institution since 1920. The original location (used in the shot above, I believe) still resides on Santa Monica Blvd and is your go-to location for a 1am chili fix. There are now five other locations around the Los Angeles area for your beanery needs.
And then there’s Timothy Carey. Famous cinema heavy, character actor, and a repeat performer for fimmakers Cassavetes and Kubrick. Arguably the most unpredictable actor in Hollywood, he’s been assaulted on-set by a frustrated Elia Kazan and offended Marlon Brando, and famously sicced his attack dogs on John Cassavetes as a gag. The one Carey film you’ll want to see, though, is The World’s Greatest Sinner, a self-penned and -directed endeavor taking four years to complete and featuring the soundtrack debut of Frank Zappa. A unique actor if ever there were one.
