Here is my explanation on why you should keep your mouth closed during exercise. The only people that need to open their mouth during exercise are athletes that are doing an anaerobic activities and generally even they don’t want to open their mouths until the very end of the exercise or the event. If you watch MMA you hear the announcers talk about how as soon as the athletes mouth drops open he or she is at a huge disadvantage.
