Habitat- Central America
Size (Weight/Length)- 1 kg; 61 cm; 125 cm wingspan
Diet- Amphibians; Reptiles; Small mammals; Insects
Cool Facts- Being one of the smaller birds of prey in Central America, barred hawks aren’t afraid to let their presence be known. They will fly over treetops, looking for snakes, large insects, and small birds. During this flight, they scream nearly continuously to warn other hawks to stay away form its territory. They mainly target slower prey animals due to not being able to fly very quickly or dodge through branches. Barred hawks have also been seen pulling worms from the ground after rain.
Rating- 10/10 (Contrary to belief, this hawk does not belong behind bars.)
