Great read - Japantown

Just finished a great vacation read: Japantown, by Barry Lancet. It’s a mystery/suspense novel, also referred to as a thriller, although I wouldn’t quite call it that.

This is a well written high quality novel with a unique twist as it involves lots of Japanese culture and history mixed with murder-mystery and suspense. Locations include San Francisco, Tokyo, rural Japan and New York. The story has interesting characters and a significant dose of action (especially martial arts) mixed in with the progression of the story and situation. The pace is steady and quick, and the plot stays interesting as it unfolds, keeping you hooked all the way to the conclusion. The author has lived and worked in Japan for decades and this is obvious in his writing. You can sense the author’s passion in the background and in the characters. I highly recommend this book. This novel was published in 2013 and has 416 pages. I believe a sequel is on its way, I will definitely be looking out for it.
