Fracture 11 - (The Flash/Daughter)
Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four Part Five Part Six Part Seven Part Eight Part Nine Part Ten
You walked into STAR labs slowly.
You had pulled a stupid stunt and was hoping that everyone would cut you some slack.
Everything had been going so well the last few weeks. You both had been hanging out more despite Dr. Wells objections, but you didn’t care. You actually felt happier the you ever did.
You let out a shuddered breath thinking over what you would say...Barry and Cisco had figured out a way to tap into facial recognition and had been running it in search of Malcom. When it went off your mind just started the race.
“Starling City really isn’t that far...” You mumbled to yourself as you stepped off the elevator.
You walked in to the cortex slowly seeing everyone crowded near the center of the room talking to a man you didn’t recognize. Finally Caitlin’s gaze hovered over to you, “Y/N...”
Everyone turned looking to you, “Before you get...”
“Where have you been?” Wells hissed at you, “Do you have any idea how worried we’ve been?”
“I know...I just...” You stepped forward putting your hands in your pockets.
“I got this.” Barry stepped forward.
“Do you have any idea...” Wells started again.
“Hey!” Barry held up his hand to him as he raised his voice, “I said...I got this,”
You stared at them both wonder what had happened to warrant such tones and glaring looks. You didn’t have time to wonder long as Barry took you by the arm leading you out into the hall a ways down. He let you go taking a few more steps away rubbing a hand over his face. You could feel how worried he’d been.
Swallowing you hung your head, “I’m sorry...”
He finally looked at you and sighed, “Are you okay?”
You glanced up at him nodding, “It’s just...the alert went off...and I...he’s my brother... and...”
You tensed slightly as he hugged you. You shut your eyes feeling his warm presence seep into you, “I was so worried...I thought...god...”
Finally he let go letting his hands rest on your shoulders as he went on, “Never...do something like that again. Call me that’s why I got you this, it’s not a paperweight.”
He pulled out the phone he’d given you. You took it nodding, “I won’t.,,and I will...”
“Good.” He smiled a little, “Did you find anything?”
You looked at him taking in a deep breath, “It...wasn’t him...”
He sighed looking at you for a moment, “I will make some calls...I have some friends in Starling City. Their resources are good.”
“Oliver?” You smirked as he let out a small laugh.
“Yes.” He nodded putting his arm around you, “Oliver...you’ve met him.”
“Oh yeah, Uncle Oli comes to Thanksgiving every year.” You smiled at him as surprise came over him.
“Huh...I never would have pictured him...doing that.” He said as he started back toward the cortex.
“Dad...” He looked down at you as you stopped, “You’re...still worried...”
He swallowed looking away nodding a little, “I am.”
“I won’t...” He stopped you by raising his hand.
“It’s not about what you just did...It’s about that situation that I can’t talk about.” He told you, “I just... it’s getting a lot more serious and I’m figuring it out slowly.”
“Can I help yet?” You asked hoping you could do something for him.
He smiled, “No, not yet. I will let you know if you can, now, there’s someone I want you to meet.”
“Who?” You asked following him back into the cortex.
“Things are so much smaller now...” You heard someone say as you walked back inside. Barry walked over to the older gentleman who smiled at him proudly.
“Dad...” Barry smiled at him before turning to you, “This...is...your grand daughter...Y/N.”
Henry turned to you as your mouth opened slightly, “Well...I’ll be...You passed your eyes down to her that’s for sure.”
He stepped forward smiling down at you before giving you a hug. It took you moment to hug him back. You swallowed, “I...hi...”
He chuckled a little stepping back looking at you, “Wow...I just...”
“What?” You asked tilting your head a little.
He smiled at you before looking to Barry, “She looks a little like your mother.”
Barry smiled crossing his arms proudly, “She’s definitely an Allen...spunky...bullheaded...”
“Late?” Henry smirked at him
“I have not seen that yet...but..” Barry smirked a little, “I wouldn’t doubt it.”
“I’m right here you know.” You crossed your arms looking at them both.
“Oh yeah.” Henry smiled, “Definitely an Allen.”
“Henry...” Everyone looked at Joe, “We uh...”
“Right...Well...” Henry looked to Barry before giving him a hug, “I love you son.”
“I love you too dad...” Barry held him tightly.
You watched him turn to you and smile, “It’s not everyday you get to meet your grand daughter before she’s even born.”
You frowned, “You have to go?”
“It’s uh...” He looked at Barry.
“I’ll explain.” He nodded as Henry gave you a hug before he walked over to Joe. You stared after both your grandfathers until they disappeared. You could feel this ache in the back of your head. This sadness and longing.
You looked at Barry, “I...thought...”
“Yeah.” He nodded, “He’s still in jail...there was an incident while you were gone...Why don’t we grab some dinner and I will tell you about it., sound good?”
“Barry...” Dr Wells rolled over to him, “I need to have a moment with Y/N.”
“We had a discussion.” Barry told him.
“It’s not about that...it’s about some results.” Wells stared at him strangely.
“Then you can tell us both. I want to start understanding what’s going anyways.” You looked at Barry crossing his arms the way he did when you were in third grade and the teachers aid had been picking on you. Dad the great protector.
Wells took off his glasses for a moment, “Recently...there has been a surge in in her amygdala and hippocampus...I’m concerned that all these outings you both have been going on have been over stimulating her.”
“I see...” Barry looked at you before going back to Wells, “Is it a decrease in GABA or serotonin?”
“...No...” Wells put his glasses back on.
“Has there been an increase to dopamine?” Barry sighed.
“Again no, but I’d still like to run some tests.” Wells told him, “Precautionary of course.”
“Right...Then it can wait until tomorrow.” Barry smiled, “I’d like to spend some time with my daughter.”
Your heart skipped when he said that. You followed him out slowly, “Are you and Dr. Wells fighting?”
“What? No, of course not.” Barry told you pushing the elevator button.
“...you know can’t really lie to me right.” You told him quietly, “I can sense how angry you are with him.”
He looked at you finally, “I’m fine...it’s just....been a long day.”
“Dad...” You reached over touching his arm,
“Y/N...” He frowned looking at you, “I need you to drop it.”
He stepped onto the elevator first. As his anger began to fill you up. You turned looking at , “Have a good dinner.”
“Y/N...” The doors shut as you turned walking away from him. You were so mad and you couldn’t help it.
“Y/N?” You looked up at Dr. Wells sitting in front of you, “I thought you were going out?”
You shook your head, “No...can we go home?”
“Of course.” He pushed his chair forward looking at you with concern, “Is everything alright?”
You frowned and shook your head, “I don’t know...the moment I start to feel close to Barry...I just...”
“He pushes you away.” He sighed nodding, “I know the feeling.”
“Did...did something happen?” You asked walking next to him.
“I don’t know...I know that he...something happened. I’m just not sure what.” He looked up at you smiling, “I was actually going to ask you, hoping you would have some input in the matter.”
You shook your head, “I don’t, I’m sorry.”
“Well it was worth a shot.” He pushed the elevator button himself.
You stood there with him for a moment, “Dr. Wells...”
“Yes.” He looked at you smiling. You could feel how much he cared about you and it was nice. You let it fill you up letting the anger fall away.
“I’m really sorry...about leaving earlier.” You told him, “I won’t do it again. Not without telling you or first.”
He nodded slowly as the doors opened and he rolled on, “I really am just glad that you’re alright.”
You pushed the button down for the garage, “I’m gonna sleep so hard tonight.”
He chuckled, “Straight home then?”
“...Big Belly Burger?” You said putting your hands behind your back.
“I thought you’d never ask.” He smirked at you.
