So I have been treating my crippling case of reality induced anxiety with horror and dark comedy series that have been on my watch list for ages. And i just want to share some of my favorites in the hopes I can get some recs for my next watches!
From - just finished s3 today… obsessed. I cannot wait for s4. Seriously just such a fantastically creepy show and i genuinely care about so many of these characters despite the fact there are so many. Incredible casting and character development.
Barry - one of the best series I have ever seen. It belongs on the very short list of “perfect” series. Noho Hank is THE character of all time. Stunning, brilliant, hilarious, horrible. Loved it.
The Terror (S1) - also one of the best series I have ever seen. I haven’t watched s2 yet since I know it isn’t as good as the 1st but I do intend to watch it.
Welcome to Derry - phenomenal. I ended up rewatching it and the movies immediately because it was just so damn good.
Castle Rock - I had already seen this, but it had been so long I forgot pretty much everything. Just as good on rewatch.
Midnight Mass - I can’t stop thinking about this show. It was so fucking good and I feel like it really flew under the radar.
Fall of the House of Usher - I remember when it originally came out hearing mostly negative reviews but I fucking loved it. Such a clever, fucked up show.
Curb Your Enthusiasm (final season) - finally got around to watching the last season of Curb. Perfect conclusion to one of the funniest shows ever. God I love Larry.
Our Flag Means Death - this was a comfort rewatch since I have seen it like a lot but it’d been a while. And goddamnit I am still devastated we didn’t get a 3rd season and s2 was forced into fewer episodes. This show means so fucking much to me. Perfect show, no notes. I wish I could exist on the timeline it got the recognition it deserved.
The Strain - just started today, I am only on episode 2. Loving the mid 2000s horror camp so far. I was planning on watching Better Call Saul next, but From had me in the mood for some easy horror.
Potential next watches - Silo, Pluribus, Bates Motel, Better Call Saul, Alien Earth, Salem’s Lot (70s), Lovecraft Country, Archive 81, Penny Dreadful (need to rewatch as I never watched the final season)
I really want horror series recommendations. I have already seen Hannibal, IWTV, Hill House, and the classics/my faves (spn, btvs/angel, x files). And about a million others so really looking for some more under the radar series. Really need something to fill the hole From and Welcome to Derry have left.
