“it's both funny and weird to hear commentators in the 90s like Bart and Kathy collectively lose their minds over a tiny balance check on beam and declare "no, not good enough for a medal" and they would actually be right. Weird how strict it seemed to be when today you expect at least 2-3 balance checks per gymnast and it's still a hit routine.”

One word of warning, though he often was paired with Kathy Johnson that wasn’t anything like his regular commentating partner for many years. I generally find he’s only as good as the person he’s paired with and so if he has a bad partner his commentary isn’t good.
