Years ago, I made the decision not to repeat my drink. And in the process, I have been discovering a whole new world. Often, the marketing exercise is all about the hype and less about the drink and its experience. And when you shut yourself from that hype, you try to “listen” to the people behind the brew. Every time I open a new bottle, my first drink is always neat. I believe this takes me closest to its original intention. In its purest form, you experience the drink. You get to decide if you like it or not. And in some cases, it takes more than one drink to make that decision. . Most often you want to have a cold drink. Whisky rocks/stones are supposed to make the drink cold without diluting it. Now, if you don’t want to buy them, then there are two options: . 1. I leave my bottle in the freezer. Alcohol doesn’t freeze and so, when you pour yourself one, it is cold. This is a very simple and no-nonsense step. . 2. I pour water into a glass (1/4th the volume) and freeze it. A few minutes later, ice is formed at the bottom of the glass. The glass is cold too. Now, you pour your drink. Your drink turns cold. And as time progresses, the ice at the bottom of the glass melts and dilutes the drink. This is great because it does help with hydration and of course, the liver too! . What’s your non-conventional way to have a cold drink? .
