This is a traditional song from the Valencian Country. Like many traditional songs that were transmitted orally from generation to generation, it was becoming forgotten. That was until an 18-year-old boy called Pep Gimeno, from the family nicknamed "Botifarra", asked elderly people of the town what traditional songs they knew. He learned this one from a woman named Milieta, and included it in his first album, released in 2006. Since then, this song has spread again and has been sang by many bands and singers, become a symbol of traditional music revival in the Valencian Country.
Lyrics in Valencian Catalan and English translation:
Mira si he corregut terres que he estat en Alfarrasí, en Adzaneta i Albaida, en el Palomar i ací.
See how many lands I've gone through that I have been in Alfarrasí, in Adzaneta and Albaida, in El Palomar and here.
Omplim el sarró de pa, si vols que et guarde les cabres, que les figues ja s'acaben i raïm no queda un gra
Let's fill the shepherd's bag with bread if you want me to watch over your sheep, because figs are running out already and there's no grape left.

[List of Valencian towns]
Vinc del cor de la Costera, el poble dels socarrats, d'allà on renaix de les cendres el meu País Valencià.
I come from the heart of Costera, the town of the "burned ones", where my Valencian Country is reborn from ashes.
The recording in this post is the live version from this 2010 concert.
