“Take this next right, Silver cut in. Sam flicked on her turn signal.

“I mean, they could help,” Dipper persisted.

“I don’t want to bring it up, okay? We’re up here visiting because Silver wanted us with them, so we’re not gonna drag my problems into it.” She glared at Dipper in the rear-view mirror. He held up his hands in surrender.

Well I just finished writing the (unedited version of) chapter 4 of When The Bell Rings so here’s an excerpt from that because I am Vibrating and also Really Proud Of It:

It all went black, and she held a storybook in her hands. The Tale of Queen Vanessa.

Oh, peck.

Hat Kid was launched back to the ruined tower in Subcon Forest, book held to her chest.

Had she been crying? Who knew.

She flipped open the book, looking at each picture. It had been a misunderstanding. Hat Kid thought about all those notes she remembered from the manor. No, it probably hadn’t only been a misunderstanding.

She lingered on the last page, depicting Snatcher. Or, Hat Kid guessed, what had become Snatcher.

Time’s sake, that was...

Hat Kid heard someone coming through the bushes outside the tower.

“Hey, newbie! You out here? Boss wants to talk to you!”

Hat Kid wiped the wetness from around her eyes and looked back at the storybook. She didn’t think she’d be able to face Snatcher after learning this, at least not right now.

She closed the book and warped back to her spaceship.

Question 54 for Sam?

(Does your character want power or authority of any kind?)

Oooooh this one’s complicated. Short answer: sort of.

Long answer: they want to be able to use the authority that they already have, but in a good way. The idea of having power/authority over an individual/group of individuals and using that to, like, control people? No. They want to stay away from that, because they have a bad relationship with that kind of power when it came to her parents (particularly her mom). However! Power/authority to help people, and inspire people to be better, and being able to defend herself/the people she cares about? Oooh yes. She will use that.

It gets complicated because she HAS power and authority (werewolf + mizar + her family name) but she doesn’t want to MISUSE it on accident. So a lot of her arc is using it without the fear of abusing it.

(ramble about any fic-related thing!)

Okay! Let’s see. I want to ramble about my Sam plans except I also really shouldn’t because Spoilers but I can probably talk about Sam origins!

I don’t remember when I first first got the idea for Sam but I have like. Five different starts to their story. things that have stayed consistent are that Sam is a disaster, she’s starting college, and her parents have always been Not Great People. I had a version where she already had a girlfriend in the beginning and was trying to deal with a much younger r!gideon who she was tutoring to pay for college uuuh there was another where i tried to show the Passage of Time by getting rid of the idea of gender-segregated dorms entirely so sam and alcor/tyrone actually were roommates at one point. i don’t remember why i changed this but i do know that silver wouldn’t have existed without that happening

speaking of silver, they were originally a vampire and sam found out about the vampire roommate and the demon brother at roughly the same time. silver has also always been an r!ford. that was always something that I was gonna write once I came up with them

I wrote “Parties” as a way for me to elaborate on sam and alice’s dynamic for myself and then it turned into not exactly that but it is helpful for where im currently going with sam, as in currently writing when i’m not getting sidetracked by original stuff my brain waints to write

I plan on eventually having them go to gravity falls one year for a few weeks in the summer or somethin and i have some ideas with that but they’re not immediately relevant

uuuuhhh sam has led to me developing a lot of thoughts about werewolves which i may or may not utilize in my original works since i tend to write fantasy when im writing original content
