On The Road Again
A strange feeling of returning home swelled in his stomach, tangled tight with his anxiety; Will hadn't been stationed there for more than a year, total, but the time he'd spent there had been harrowing and had left far more of an impression on him than he'd first thought. It was a long ride back to the mountains, back to the faces he'd once known. He tucked his chin self consciously into his bandanna and tried not to smile.
The memory of his bloody, near permanent death there rushed in his ears under the pulsing rattle of the train car. Leaning his head against the window, he watched the flat lands coast by beneath him in a dizzying, comforting blur that wiped all memories clean. None of what happened before mattered.
He was headed back to Mountain Lab.
