It may feel like two people lurk inside you now, each waiting to jump out - one moment you will be chasing your dreams and leaping off cliffs, and the next you will wonder what on earth you were thinking by being so reckless. By mid week, no sooner than you finally feel like you are getting yourself under control and things are making lovely, organized sense once more, your intellect gets involved in this game of you versus you, and you suddenly really, truly get what the phrase “being of two minds” can mean. Don’t worry. As frustrating as it all might be, it is serving a brilliant purpose: You are going to understand both sides of the story, both sides of the coin, both sides of the argument. Your convictions give way to empathy. Your me gives way to other. Your scale finally balances out into real stability, and your heart and head, body and soul, fall into the harmony you’ve craved. Having it all is a wonderful thing - until you realize you could lose it all too. Although the week begins with exuberance over your accomplishments, your resources, and your sense of self, your optimism wanes as the week goes on, and your feeling of plenty begins to fade into worry. You still know you have enough, but you are much less convinced you can afford to share it. The problem is, if you lock yourself down and close all your doors, yes, you might protect what you have - but you won't be able to receive anything either. There will be no loss, but there will be no gain. And soon enough, you'll realize that the sense of isolation such protectionism brings is simply too much to bear, not to mention quite contrary to what you know in your heart should actually be. So in the end, the fearful grip you found yourself caught in will serve an important purpose: You will realize with great clarity that you would much rather have a bit less and be a brilliant part of your community than have it all and be a world only unto yourself.
