very silly idea but sam trying to change his bedsheets after a tiring week of mission after mission and he just wants to come home to clean sheets because they’re long due for a change. except while he’s halfway getting it done he gets ANOTHER call and honestly? he can’t get one part of the damn fabric tucked under his mattress properly and it’s all so frustrating and he is so, so tired.
but he goes anyway, decked out in the spare suit he keeps at home for emergencies and sighs at the mess he’ll have to fix when it’s probably 3am. maybe he should just sleep on base instead. he half considers that while he flies to site.
except he forgets about that thought after busting some stupid operation they’ve been keeping tabs on. he’s annoyed. he’s grimy. he wants a shower. he wants to sleep. and he flies back home instead on instinct and groans when he recalls his half done bedsheets. he’ll sleep on the floor then.
but when he’s home he notices the sheets perfectly set up, tucked under the mattress how he likes it. pillows are fluffed, and his bed has never looked so inviting.
his room is cold, set to the right temperature on his air con, and he can tell it hasn’t been turned on for long. his bathtub is filled with hot water. there’s a change of clothes and his towel on the metal rack.
there’s a thermal flask sitting on his kitchen counter. there’s sandwiches in the fridge. sam doesn’t know whether to laugh or cry. instead he texts bucky to get his ass back to his apartment either through the front door or the window he definitely snuck in from even though he has a key.
sam knocks out instantly with bucky by his side and doesn’t wake up until a full 12 hours later (which he wants to be annoyed about but you know what. it’s nice. laying on clean sheets with a super soldier curled up against him)
