A Few Favourite Albums from 2015
I’ve decided to list a few of my favourite albums that were released this past year. I don’t mean songs, I don’t mean artists, I mean a full album I can listen to front to back and not skip any songs.
Rhodes: Wishes. This album is probably the one I’ve listened to most. It tugs at my heart strings. It’s chill enough that I can listen to it on repeat and not get tired of it, and the way he sings his beautiful lyrics are very inspiring on those dreary days.
Sufjan Stevens: Carrie and Lowell. I freakin’ love this man. Love his story telling, plus he is brilliantly bazaar live. The album was inspired by his mother Carrie’s death in 2012. He shared stories of their family (Dad Lowell) and the trips they took to Oregon.
Lord Huron: Strange Trails. Let’s just say if you like spaghetti westerns, Elvis Presley and happy songs about death and love, you’ll appreciate this album. Each song flows beautifully into the next.
Ryan Adams: 1989. I will fully admit, I loved this Taylor Swift album, so when I heard Ryan Adams was going to cover it I was very intrigued. Let’s just say, it did not disappoint!
Florence + The Machine: How Big, How Beautiful. At first I was sad there wasn’t much as much harp on this album, then I realized that songs like Ship to Wreck, Delilah, and What Kind of Man still got me jumping, dancing and singing at the top of my lungs in the kitchen as much as her previous albums.
What are some of your favourite albums from 2015? Are there any upcoming releases you’re looking forward to in 2016?
