it’d be e a s y to hang up. bash almost didn’t answer the phone at all, if it weren’t for the --- unspoken CODE of comradery amongst the group. or maybe gut instinct, because why would she be calling him if everything was fine? whatever led him to answer, it would be so easy to dismiss her. make another petty snipe and call it a day.

but there’s ... something in her v o i c e that keeps him on the line. something serious and scared, and she’s given him no reason to CARE but concern bubbles inside him all the same.

it’s meant to be a meeting about the end times, a collaboration of efforts to brainstorm ways of saving the world or what-the-fuck-ever. bash still ain’t sure how he got DRAGGED into all this, but he’s here, waiting for the table to fill up and resigning himself to his fate when s h e walks in. he’s out of his chair in an instant, sends it scattering behind him loud and disruptive as his eyes flare yellow in panic and he tries to f l e e .

only one exit, though, and she’s walking through it. half debates smashing a window to jump through, but he stands stock still, mid-run, frozen and s t a r i n g at the hunter before him. did think, after he escaped her WRATH, that he’d see her again. that she’d catch wind of his trail and come after him, try to kill him for crimes he never committed. but that was years ago, and he was sure he’d seen the last of her. never thought she’d be here, t o d a y , during times like these.

he falls into a defensive position, ready to tackle if he needs to, ready to rip her throat out. whatever he has to do to make it out of here ALIVE.
