You can acknowledge the fact that Syria’s future is very uncertain right now and some people there are nervous about what comes next, without doing apologetics for Assad “but leftishly,” be fucking serious. His regime had prisons so fortified and labyrinthine the rebels can’t get people out of their deepest reaches, he dismembered children, gassed his own citizens — there’s no justifying that and no wondering why so many people there can’t imagine anything worse! I sure have trouble doing so! There’s a reason Syrians have been fighting for a change for 13 years, and once foreign meddlers got out of the way this is what happened. Some of you are pushing outright Kremlin propaganda right now and have the audacity to tell others to “listen to SWANA voices” or whatever. I have read whole books of testimony about the civil war from Syrians and that’s why I know you’re a joke. Just looking at what crosses your tumblr dash claiming to speak for XYZ is not “listening.” You need to seek it out. Take your damn own advice, but for reals, and do that.

"Russia requested an emergency session of the U.N. Security Council to discuss Syria, according to Dmitry Polyansky, its deputy ambassador to the U.N., in a post on Telegram.
