Let's be real here

Bashir al-Assad is a tyrant and a lunatic. However, he is no danger to either america or the west (so far at least). Why need to eat stop worrying about what he does and focus solely on Isis. Once we totally destroy Isis then we can worry about Assad. But let's do one thing at a time.

"What makes military and strategic sense to Assad may not make military and strategic sense to us"

from the New York Times article "Reports of Syria Chemical Attack Spur Question:Why?", published on Sunday, September 8th, 2013.

The article makes an attempt to answer why Syrian President Bashar al-Assad would use chemical weapons against his own people. Recently, al-Assad was accused of using chemical weapons in Syria, where more than 1,400 civilians have died. Repeatedly, al-Assad has denied accountability for the attack. 

This week, President Obama will try to convince both the American people and Congress to authorize a limited military strike in Syria. Anti-war supporters are angered that President Obama wants to spend resources on yet another war when the American economy is still recovering from military projects in Iraq and Afghanistan. American congressmen pushing for a reprisal defend their stance by stating that the U.S. must act against such acts and send a message to other nations that might want to use similar weapons in the future.
