Adella Afadi. A recent video she made was about the pressure to be feminine, and damn, if that ain’t touch my heart.
AsToldByKenya. She pretty much talks about whatever interests her for that day, whether it be Sims, make up, Black Women, or celebrating drama. She’s great.
Amandabb. Similar to what I said about Kenya’s channel, but she specifically calls her channel “a beauty and entertainment channel.” Also great.
Amandamaryanna. Basically, she tries to romanticize her life, and she takes us with her.
Aishyo. I don’t watch as much of her, but she’s also a movie/tv commentator, and her latest video was on Fast Colors. So good!
April Bee. She does a lot of room makeovers.
Basicgorl. She does movie/tv show editing, and sometimes commentary.
Asmara. A Black simmer and video gamer.
Chanelletime. A Black booktuber.
Chosen One Reactions. She reacts to tv shows, right now doing the OG Charmed and Once Upon a Time.
Deeper Than Hair. She’s a Black hairdresser and business owner, who makes inspirational and nonjudgmental hair care/trim videos.
Deesims. One of the original Black simmers.
Dimplicity, a Black simmer.
I have more, but… I’m sleepy lol
For anybody paying any attention to the content on the page that isn’t just images, I told my friends that I have some ideas for Anniversary April, but I’m also accepting ideas and it just occurred to me that since I don’t get much content from YouTube (only like funny shit and old TV and movies and such), idek any Black women creators of today on YouTube. Like… I’ll go follow people whenever they be like, “Follow me,” but I don’t ever actually watch them. 😅 I used to see Hey Fran Hey and Chescaleigh and that’s like it.
So, I asked in a trusted space if they had suggestions of ones I could highlight for the page. It’s a small page, but I do want to include all mediums that Black women are on.
Basically it’s a system of trust, because I definitely will most likely not be listening to anything (and I know that people like rundowns of recommendations), but all I can really say is that I’m posting the recs from friends and if y’all wanna research the content creators to see if they’re for you, you can do so, but I’m not doing it because I don’t have time for that. This is still a free blog and I still have adult things at home.
YES, this is a space for “characters,” but also for creatives and entertainers. Because the same people who want to see characters like the ones I showcase may want other entertainment, as well. And at the end of the day, content creators do create a persona for the world who may not be the exact reflection of themselves. So, in a way, they’re characters too, just more serious and relatable ones.
