Why the name change?! 💜
I love @basicveganbitch just as much as everyone else. I didn’t realize I would start being recognized IRL… having people come up to you and say “hay your that bitch” is a little shocking. Anyone over the age of 30 doesn’t get what a “basic bitch” is. They think I’m just some extremist vegan. I am NOT an extremist. I drink coffee, beer and eat cereal… not smoothie bowls and kale sales 24/7. I spend my weekends hiking, biking, dining out with friends & relaxing after a week of hard work. I’m not out protesting, throwing paint or yelling at people on the Internet.
I am a mainstreamist.
Sure, I will not be satisfied until veganism is as common as Starbucks and more than 25-50% of the population eats vegan food on a regular basis. I know I have my work cut out for me, but i think this future is 1000% possible. However, I plan to achieve this leading by example and by fostering change from within the system. I am not going to move to another country or live on an isolated island to create my own vegan world. Being an active participant in THIS society is the best way to change it.
Also, no matter what anyone says, a professional person who moonlights as a social media star with the word “bitch” in their name is totally not taken seriously. I am a professional with a full-time job; I am not biking up mountains or “saving animals” by making smoothie bowls at the beach.
I am trying to change the system from within.
I have many many professional aspirations. I do not want a social media handle to hold me back or keep me from future opportunities.
Now, that doesn’t mean I can’t rock the BVB tee on the weekends or give mad props to those who are full-time social media influencers. If you can make vlogging your full-time gig, that’s awesome. That’s not the path I’d like to take for myself. I make videos when I’m inspired and to have fun with my friends. I also love all the people in my life who are able to do this full-time. I say good for them and I support their efforts. However, right now, it is not the area I am choosing to focus my energy on. Maybe I’ll say something different in 6-12 months… maybe not. Right now you get me part time :) however…
I am full-time committed to making this world a better place!
Why are you basicveganbabe now??
Anyone over the age of 30 does not get the basic bitch reference. Instead they think i’m calling myself a bitch, and I am far from that. I keep having people come up to me and say “hey your that bitch” instead of being like “oh hai basic!!” so I guess I just don’t want to have my face be synonymous with the b-word any more. It just doesn’t represent what I stand for and believe in. It was fun at first, but that was before I started getting recognized so much 🙈🙈🙈
Also that word is very extreme. I am a mainstreamist. I want to make veganism approachable and fun, not be rude and scary.
My end goal is to have plant-based living be as common as a Starbucks pumpkin spice latte. 🌱💕
Wouldn’t that be so rad? ;)
