I seriously cannot stop thinking about Ford, who has such a complicated, messy relationship with his hands, expressing affection through Ozh'esta (Vulcan hand-kissing).
Imagine a younger Ford, a total Trekkie, watching the episode with Spock's parents, learning that Vulcans interpret the simple act of touching the index and middle fingers together as a dignified, intimate way of showing your love, quietly wondering how it would work with his extra digit.
Or an older, fresh out of the portal, Ford, touch-starved but still wary of physical contact, working up the courage to press his and his partner's fingertips together, hoping they understand the magnitude of the action.
Just Ford, at any age, learning to embrace both his hands and the wonders of casual intimacy he's been denied for so long.
