I will always admire Skam France’s ability to show their characters in different lights depending on whose season it is. It makes such an ‘introverted’ show have such dynamic and deep characters.

In that way it makes a lot of sense that Basile was the first one to know because Arthur would naturally see Basile differently than what Lucas did/does. To Lucas he was loud and obnoxious and said a lot of questionable things while kinda trying to force hetersexual values onto Lucas, even if it was unintentional. But Basile and Arthur are presumably a lot closer than Lucas and Basile is and was. In Arthur’s eyes Basile is still silly and a goof but it also shows his clearly very caring side that we got glimpses of in Lucas’s season. It also shows how much Basile learnt from what Lucas went through, and while his attempt to talk to Arthur is a little clumsy it comes from a good place. In Lucas’s season you always got the impression that Basile was unable to listen and understand because he was loud and stupid and at times Lucas might not even have liked him very much. But it’s such a clever way of storytelling and how we see everything through Lucas’s eyes we become biased because Lucas is biased and at times maybe even projecting his dislike onto Basile to make him seem worse than he is.

But this is just a very clever way to give characters that are not the mains a lot of depth in a very short period of time. And that’s not to say Basile wasn’t annoying and stupid towards Lucas in his season but this shows that while Lucas was closed off and so focused on his own life he didn’t notice that his friends got worried about him. And Basile learnt something from thay experience too and now he’s trying to do better by Arthur. I love how that’s possible with these little moments of honesty and caring. And it gave us more insight to what Basile and Arthur’s relationship is like and possibly how it will develop in the future. It’s very nice!

I hate to say this but I’m kind of sad we didn’t at least get some background boysquad footage.. not just elu, but all the boys.. I miss them.. this would’ve been the perfect clip for that.. all of them hanging out at the park again 😫
