“Wait, what did you just say?”
Kibum froze as he turned to look at the woman, his eyes slightly wide. He never referred to Bastet as mother, it was hard for him to make the connection and it felt oddly personal. He almost exclusively called her by her name, even to her face. He didn’t mean it to be rude or hurtful but for him, the term ‘mother’ didn’t refer to someone who gave birth to you, it referred to someone who took care of you, who was there for you.
And yet, that was exactly what he referred to the woman as. His assignment limp in his hands, the term had slipped out without his full consent. It was disturbing for him. To think that he was seeing her as less of a random goddess and more of a constant staple in his life, someone for him to lean on. He wasn’t sure if he was ready to hand over that kind of responsibility to the woman.
Clearing his throat as his ears perked up, he shook his head, his voice shaking for a moment. “I said, here’s my assignment, Bastet.”
