BAT 2 vs Parallel walking
I'm not a fan of BAT 2 training.
Mainly because the dog is going towards the trigger even if there are no physiological reactions the dog will still be stressed. It's on lead. It cant escape. You are moving towards the bad thing.
Sure it works..
But as the dog walks up to the trigger its uncomfortable, you're stopping and you're taking the dog away from uncomfortable thing - but as you're walking away the dog is still stressed because as it is walking away the other dog is generally staring or looking. It no longer can see the thing it's scared of and there is more room for error which is an undesired reaction of barking.
Parallel walking and dropping treats is much more effective, dog still sees the trigger but treats are involved so trigger means treats are coming and trigger is not anything to worry about, other dogs head is down and not engaging eye contact which mentally changes how dog sees threats. There is no making your dog move towards threat if it doesn't want, over time you will get your dog closer briefly meet and keep going etc.
