Cuddly Bats bag/backpack and plushies on Kickstarter - LINK
I'm recovering from a tonsillectomy and I felt well enough yesterday to go to the makerspace (had to take 2 breaks on the 10 minute walk home but I made it!).
I made a bat bag! I just drew out some shapes on scrap packing paper, cut out the materials, went to the space and essentially zoned out for 3 hours.
I expected it to be big enough for my phone but I didn't bother measure it so it is wide enough but it sticks out by nearly 2 inches. It is the perfect size for my prescription bottles and the head is also a pocket for cough drops (which don't seem to do much for the mouth pain but do help keep my mouth from tasting like something died in it).
Here's my little medic on call:
I did the oval body piece twice with black fleece and once with cheap maroon fabric to have a second inside pocket.
The head I did twice so it could be a pocket. I ended up shaving a bit off the top corners where the ears go.
I did the wings as one set with the edge on the fold. I just did a stitch along the outline and down the nodes for structure and aesthetic.
The ears I did twice in black and twice in maroon.
I free styled the feet nubs so no pattern for that.
I'm planning an armadillo drawstring bag for next time I have energy.

It's been a long time since I've made a bat wing bag. This one was for a custom order and it was interesting remembering how to make the wings. I'm super happy with how it came out!

Dark romantic coordinate with VM’s (Baroque Jacquard?) Heart Frill JSK for an early Valentine’s meet. I originally threw this together last-minute but the more I look at it the more I love it.

That mysterious Moi-même-Moitié Elegant Gothic Madame has led me to a fun rabbit hole of the EGM category. Included in that were the amazing bags, including the iconic Bat Bag. Of all the Moitié designs, the Bat Bag had the widest reach. First released in 2000, this bag works with both lolita and other gothic outfits, which made it wanted by people far out of the mainstream Moitié buyers. The bags were released in different materials over time, leather, synthetic leather and nylon, some with a contrasting cross in lapis or navy blue on the outside. All had the coffin shaped logo zipper pulls. Lining was lapis blue.
